I want Richie back singing 'I'll Be There For You'. He does a better job than Jon and the outro solo is ridiculously fantastic.

Richie's solo song is always one of my highlights of a show. He may miss a few words or some notes are not perfect - I don't care - because the passion and emotions he puts into his performance compensate it all.

I'm a Richie fan and I'm biased

I'm not so sure. For me, Richie's versions of IBTFY are either a bit meh or absolutely fantastic.

Also, I totally agree with Seb on why Richie hasn't done a solo song on the European leg yet. His vocals, at times, are shot to pieces. He's still a great backing singer, but I think at this point his vocals aren't up to singing lead vocals.

Being a Richie fan myself though, I'd love to be proven wrong

I actually found new love for IBTFY in May when Jon did it solo. I'd soooo prefer Richie do Homebound Train or one of his own.

I'm RIGHT with ya Debs. I can't get enough of this song right now and I'm watching every single performance from last leg and this leg of the tour. The adlibbing towards the end have been incredible. It really adds something extra to an already amazing song.

Everyone's gone nuts about the ad libs, but that hardly anything new. He's done the same sort of thing before.

Holy Crapola! That's a nice find. I had no idea about this recording. Thanks Terri, this is indeed another fantastic version!

I know I'm a cynical bitch, but let's just say that I was less than convinced that all the extra emoting had anything to do with how much Jon missed Richie.

I do remember this performance as I was supposed to be at this show but my mama was in the hospital at the time. Even with rehashed ad libs, I still dig the song more with them.

I definitely do, too, although I prefer it with Richie singing the harmony. I just wasn't as convinced about the motivation for the "new" lingo as most people seemed to be.
