I agree - otherwise he wouldn't still be singing them with Richie back.

I too never thought the ad libs were about Richie and did have that feeling of deja vu so that youtube of the OWN Greenville show makes me feel less crazy, lol!!

LOL And there's no doubt that feeling "less crazy" is always a good thing!

Some of the ad libs in Always way back when were rather similar, too.

I know the Richie fans will get mad at me here, but if it's a choice between LYHOM, IBTFY, or no Richie song, I'll go none every time.

I feel the exact same way. I'd much rather Jon sing both LYHOM and IBTFY.

IBTFY and LYHOM by Jon is Ok for me. I'd love Richie doing HT again.

I'd like to see Richie giving a new song a try. I think there are still tons of songs he'd do great with. These Days was great back on the LH tour, but I'd rather see that with Jon on vocals.

Hope this show is a good one! Energy will probably be subdued but that could be made up in terms of setlist. Maybe now they can pull out some of the other Circle songs.

He is clearly, slowly, getting rid of them, though, the lines are getting shorter and shorter with each show. And the extra lyrics of the recent European shows pale in comparison to how he did them in the States, where he was adding stuff like "I'll take the weight of the world off your shoulders, my friend..." "....to be that friend...to be that brother..." etc.

Those are not the kind of extra lyrics used in that 2001 video, either, in which they were clearly directed to a girlfriend/woman in a pleading manner. The adlibs in May were all about reassurance TO A FRIEND.

I'm not a cynic, true, but I do try to go for a logical explanation, being aware of the context and all...

nah, not IBTFY...
or LYHOM...but Homebound Train.
This one should be back.

And Richie's voice is not that bad...it's not the same, of course...
but Jon's is worse.

I'm just glad Jon keeps doing the ad libs, but you can tell difference.

I dont see any "brother" or "friend" in these extra lyrics lately, like there was before.
But the emotion he puts in it it's the same (well, at least for the firsts ones. Those lasts extra lyrics are like...normal), it just makes the song more...wow.
