Wow the atmosphere sounds great. But... I suppose that's because it's the pit and it's girls screaming.

You and me Deb, a Richie song all the way! But it will only appeal the die-hard fans I am afraid.

And I am with Florin, IBTFY has always been one of my favourite Jovi songs, with Jon or Richie in vocals but the past few years it has become Richie's song and he does it in an amazing way, it doesn't have the same effect when I hear Jon doing it now.

No, I don't want Richie doing I'll Be There For You. I thought it made the song very boring the half a dozen or so times I heard him play it. I'll Be There For You is a song that really builds the crowd atmosphere, and Richie singing it just doesn't do that.

He had his shot at it. If Richie should sing anything it should be either Stranger, or Seven Years Gone.

Just got back from OKC and Lubbock. OKC was a great show!!! Jon was very interactive at this one , lots of energy in this show, and he was in pretty great voice. This one was a blast!!
Good ole Lubbock. This wasn't a bad show, for me it is the bottom of the the four I saw in the last week, mostly because I guess I wanted more new music not less, and whereas the other three each got a bit better than the prior this one was a little sedate. JOn was tired , he gave out too much in OKC and while he gave what he had in Lubbock, if you went to both, there was a difference. Here his voice was only good, and it must have been tired because he didn't do any vocal that pushed his voice at all.
Richie singing IBTFY was this shows "special" moment since there were no 2 or 3 encores, and I suspect that because there was a big storm brewing between where the band were and home, they timed it to make sure they could get wheels up and wheels down without any hassles.
And I have to say this to anyone that are accusing Jon and /or the band of being lazy You need to hush your mouths unless or until you keep their schedules. I just did Tues thru Sun in four cities flying etc, same as the band and now I need a week off from my week off!!! The band are tougher than I am anymore, I used to keep up but I'll give them all the credit in the world for being out there night after night.

I'm fine with Richie singing a song, but a different one. I want to see Jon and Richie sing I'll Be There For You together.

Nice recap except the part about the band doing 4 shows in a week being "tough" or whatever. Private jets, not having to carry one bag, 5 star hotels, etc....the guys can handle the "grueling" tour. LOL

I with you on this one. Richie can sing any other song but I hate when he sings there for U. To me, that's Jon's song.

When did this need for Richie to sing a song start? Was it on the Crush tour when it first began because if I remember correctly, he didn't sing any songs on the TD or prior tours. On the Crush tour for me, was the first time he sang and the response from the audience was bad.

For me, I see it as Jon respecting Richie because I don't see this with other bands. Go to Coldplay, Chris is the only one who sings, Bono for U2, Rob for Matchbox. Jovi is the only band who does this.

I'm not a big proponent of Richie singing a song, but I don't mind if it's the right one. I think Richie has occasionally sung a song back to the 1995 tour when he sometimes did Stranger In This Town. Jon has also given him a verse here or there (Drift Away on the Slippery tour, Help on the Keep The Faith tour, or Wanted in recent years).

He started regularly doing a song on the Bounce tour if I remember right. Probably to give Jon's voice a rest when it was shot to bits. It was only until after he came back from rehab that he didn't do a song every single night.

He did play a song (usually Stranger In This Town) every now and again on the These Days, Crush, and One Wild Night tours.
