That also leads to tracks that sound like the known (WGIGO, ILTT) going over quite well (though I still think WGIGO works live, but that's another topic.

As for the set, the reason I was so curious is that, in looking at it objectively, there's probably enough there that I haven't heard/rarely heard/ or just plain love (All of The Circle tracks, SFTP, SIBSN, BoB, KTF, LOAP, Bad RX W/ new cover) that if I saw the show once, I probably wouldn't have that many complaints. More than once though, and I'd be more pissed than I was after Pru 10 (My version of how you feel about MSG 2)
I would agree with all that. Let's face it, in the United States, the average person going to a Bon Jovi concert just wants to hear the big five: Wanted, Prayer, Bad Name, IML, and Who Says. The other big 80s hits and the 00 hits are "oh yeah, I like that song, sweet!" sort of deals. And radio and the band are indeed to blame for that. Take Always, one of the biggest hits of the 1990s, out of the public consciousness for a while, and they forget about it. Totally.

And while I despise WGIGO and hate how it gets the crowd excited for the wrong reasons (compare it to, say, WWWB, which is emotional and atmospheric and gets the crowd interested for different reasons; namely, not a shaking ass), Jon does this thing during the song where he jumps on platforms behind stage, and he kind of looks like he's in Super Mario. And that was fun. Always a bright side.

And while I was happy to hear SFTP, the Circle songs, and the hits that aren't completely stale, to be honest they weren't so exciting for me that it bested Youtube. It would take a real rollercoaster of a show to do that for me, which this band just isn't offering right now.

I can respect that. See most of the "hits" are pretty stale to me, but LOAP, KTF, BOB, and SIBSN are four of my all-time top five favorite Jovi songs (the fifth being TD) so I never really get bored with them TBH.

Prayer I still love live but I also am usually pissed off by the encore that, in all honesty, I'm sort of out of the show by then. BOB is irregular enough that hearing it as an opener works really well. And I love Saturday Night, but the acoustic TLFR version doesn't do the song justice.

I never get sick of Faith though, my favorite song. Period. Was a good version, so I'm happy for that. Also, I know people call for Bad Name being retired, but it still works really well at the start and feels fresh, especially compared to some others...

... like It's My Life. God, I wish they'd do something new with that. It doesn't help that Jon sings it lifelessly, it's just so slow and flat. I wish they'd give it an acoustic intro, or have it close out the show or main set with an extended bridge or something. Anything.

I still vote for IML to get tried in the opening slot. If they played the opening talk box in a dark arena, the place would go off like a Roman Candle, to the point where the band could stop playing and the audience could carry the song, but I digress.

That would be pretty awesome. The only other thing I can think of is preluding it with a verse from the TLFR version, or maybe even a bit from "My Way". Or just milk the parts around the solo a lot longer; if you're doing the song towards the end of the show, use that period to do band introductions. But all those solutions are basically just spreading the mashed potatoes around the plate: it doesn't take away from the fact the song is way too slow, way too dull, and Jon just can't sing it for some reason. Really, how weird is it that the guy can absolutely nail Always like he did over the weekend, but he can't sing a song of far easier vocal requisites?

Really, I guess the best thing they could do with It's My Life is rework all the mechanics of playing it live, with a different pace, tone, and pitch, and see if they can make it more exciting.

I am very sorry for you Kathleen and the others that were there.
This is a show Thierry should get at his Royal Beach Concert in Holland but not you.

I just dont see the logical in it. It's possible to give good shows but he did 2 of em and now he has to balance himself again or what?

I can only cross my fingers for Paris.

I salute you,
TS

.....and we're back on auto-pilot.

Going to both shows at Mohegan this weekend. I have no hopes for them at all. It's a smaller arena, and though the tickets were more expensive than anywhere else, in Jon's warped mind, he can half ass it since the crowd isn't as big.

Who cares, it's my money and not yours . I know the show is going to be shit, there are just 10.000 tickets sold.

On the other hand, it's the only Jovi show in Holland this year at a unique location.
