Okay, i admit they could have played better songs for most of the night. However, the band was in a great mood, despite the almost non-stop pouring rain. Pretty much all of us were dancing in puddles lol!
Oh and the stage was freaking awesome!

This was my 7th Bon Jovi show (after 1996 Budapest, 2001 Vienna, 2003 Vienna, 2006 Munich, 2008 Munich and 2011 Vienna), and I had a great time, as always! Keep The Faith was especially an excellent performance - what an outro! It was also good to hear Last Man Standing again, didn't expect that at all. The new songs went down quite well, even Amen (I don't really care for the studio version). The only song that didn't work was When We Were Beautiful - not slow enough to be a ballad, for a change of pace after Keep The Faith, and definitely not fast enough to continue rocking. I would have replaced it with Love's The Only Rule, if Jon wanted to play a track from The Circle at that point of the show.

As for Phil X, I think he did a great job in this impossible situation. True, his I'll Be There For You solo was lacking some magic feeling IMO, but no complaints from me about any of the other solos.

To say that the weather was bad is an understatement. The rain was pouring heavily during the entire concert, and the cold wind made things even worse. Jon didn't even try to use the "circle stage" for Amen and I'll Be There For You (it must have been very dangerous because of the water) and even the floor of the main stage looked something like a scene from Titanic by the end of the concert. I think if not for the horrible weather, they would have came back for another encore, just like in 2011. Still, they played for cca. 2 and a half hours.

2 questions:

- For We Weren't Born To Follow, they showed the What About Now album cover on the screen, and I don't understand why. Do they play this song at other shows with unrelated album graphics, or a technician just messed something up in Vienna?

- Why Krieau? Why not Ernst Happel Stadium? This place might be OK for some second-rate festival, but I expect a much better venue from a Bon Jovi concert. You can't even wash your hands anywhere after using the mobile toilet, for crying out loud!

I hadn't noticed this, but yeah, they're using an album cover not related to the song. No idea who came up with that brilliant plan, but they've done this at other shows as well.

My bet is they didn't expect to sell out the stadium again, hence putting the band on an open field. Another possibility is the stadium being booked for a soccer match. Maybe not on the day of the show, but a day or 2 later, thus there not being enough time to move the stage off the field and prepare the stadium.

Open fields usually have better acoustics than a stadium though, but I reckon you'd need a bit of better weather for that than what you got.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

A scene of Titanic describes the water on the stage floor best... I kept thinking Jon will slip and fall during his jumps!

As far as i know, the stadium was booked for a soccer game already...
And jesus christ, the walk through the race course was crazy long. Wish we had had a horse to get to our seats

We can't do that in any big stadium here in Argentina. The third world.

Yes I am, we got our salaries axed 50% for taxes when our public services are nowhere near to the european. We got another 50% taxes to every imported product, plus another 50% if is technology, so we can't buy first class electronics. And let's not get started on the 30% inflation per year.

We might not be Africa, but we're not on the top of the world either.

And yes, we don't have where to wash our hands after we pee on concerts. Not that I care as I never go to pee during gigs.

I suppose it depends on your definition of a third-world country, and I can't speak too much as I've never been to Argentina, but I think the most common meaning of a third-world country is one that is extremely poor and hideously underdeveloped.

All big concerts in Vienna from May - July are there this year. Bon Jovi, Green Day, Robbie Williams - all play at the Krieau.
The Hanappi-Stadium is under construction so the Happel Stadium is the home for the soccer club Rapid Wien for that period.

Roger Waters will play the Happel Stadium at the end of August and I believe he will be the only bigger Live-act there this year.
