Phil didn`t got the TD solo yet.

By the way, the stage is somethin AMAZING, but who filmed this video was on front row and he couldn`t see Tico, either David. That it`s not the best spot to watch the gig.

He knows These Days is tough, "We'll get through this one together". I hear ya Jon, keep it up! I'd rather they play it and we can all sing it than just not hear it at all.

It sounds like shit though, but I still take it over any other song. I'd rather he dies singing it than fade away..

It's definitely the best version of Always I can recall from this tour so far. It's almost like he's singing in slow motion to get the words out right, and he still struggles a lot, but at least it's god damn passable. He's into it.

That These Days rendition reminds me of a shittier version from the last tour: he just can't sing the chorus worth a shit (hasn't at all in the past 6 years other than in Frankfurt in 2008 ) and struggles, but again, at least he fights through the song. At this point I'll take it.

Aloha !

Jon did a better job on These Days than I expected, but then the guitar solo comes in and I'm reminded why I don't like the band right now. It just doesn't sound right.

The thing is, Jon isn't singing. Jon is hitting the notes, that's pretty much all he's doing nowadays. It's got nothing to do with being relentlessly critical, it's just using common sense, but if you're not hearing it that's really your problem. And I fail to see what's Bob Dylan got to do with this? The guy is known for being a shitty singer nowadays but its not as if anyone on Jovitalk is ever praising that guy on here.

Sebastiaan

Because there are idiotic people who go to a Bob Dylan show in 2013 and then complain that his voice has gone, as if they had been in a coma since 1975. The same type of personalities, it seems to me, that obsess over Jon Bon Jovi's voice and say things like "sounds like shit".

The Bounce Tour was a decade ago now and from the videos I've seen, his voice is stronger now than then.

And how can you hit all the notes but not be singing?

Jon's voice might be stronger now, but his lost a lot, if not all, of his range and has had to adjust his tone to be able to go on. Listen to any rendition of Keep The Faith or Sat. Night and you'll instantly hear that Jon sounds better with his voice blown on the Bounce tour than he does with his "good" voice on this tour.

And yes, you can hit all the notes but not be singing. I can hit every note in Blaze Of Glory if I try to, yet I sound absolutely awful for the most part. It's the same with Jon nowadays. He hits the notes and gets away with it rather easily because most people don't pick up on it unless its a studio release. Why else do you think his vocals get doctored so much on every subsequent new album?

In order to call something singing you need vibrato, proper articulation and actual control over the tone of your voice. Jon has none of that, unless you think "knoooowliifrčeeeein" is proper singing for "you know you're gonna live through the rain"?

Now I haven't been in a coma, and I'm sure others on here haven't been either, which is why I'm glad I'm not doing as many shows this tour as I used to; Excluding Richie's absence, his "singing" becomes too painful to hear, with Always and These Days being good examples of that.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Lost all of his range? That would render his career over.

Clearly, it's not nearly as strong as it used to be. I'm not saying it's fantastic.

I just don't cringe as much as you do.

And the coma thing was about Bob Dylan fans so no points allocated for trying to turn that back on me.

Can't believe Always and These Days was played back to back. I wonder how Jon's voice held up.
I liked TD a lot: I must say I was very happy with the way Jon sang it. I think there was some kind of a different flavour to the song though, not for the voice, bu for the music, so I guess it could be Phil X. And I don't even say that I don't like this other flavour, it's just different!

As for Always, well Jon sang it with a very high tone of voice, so you could see he was struggling a little bit, which made you like him more and more! They left room for a solo in the middle of the song and I think Phil X did a good job, better than the first short solo.

Birmingham City.

I have always said this and actually agree 100% with what you say here - a rare treat for you Seb. Absorb it, frame it and lap it up.

Back when Jon's vocal range was better (up to 2003) the way he would reach the high notes would be pretty effortless and would seem to just let it happen from the lower part of his diaphragm. Nowadays he is (as you say) hitting the notes but it seems like he's strenuously trying to delve into the upper part of his diaphragm to belt out the high notes. That doesn't necessarily mean that his voice is better. I would much rather have a Jon voice that was wrecked from 1987 than a Jon voice now, definitely.

Nowadays Jon actually sounds more like Cher when he's hitting the high notes. Check it out at the bridge:
