I'm with you. I'm done with standing in long lines for a spot and I prefer to know where my seat is. Not that I'm going to ever sit down, mind you, but I want my own seat.

Hallelujah. They are normal Jon Bon Jovi in 2013 vocals.

It wouldn't be JoviTalk if there weren't complaints though!

And here we have the difference between America and European concert cultures.

Australia is pretty much American style now - although Sydney and Melbourne have standing at the back.

I hugely prefer the European model. If you're next to drunk, rude, obnoxious idiots you just move away. If you have an allocated seat, there is no escape.

Also I quite like moving nearer an exit when I know it's almost over. Watching from a distance then getting a train before 60 000 others.

Good to know. I dream of going to Australia one day in the future when I have more disposable income so maybe I can make it coincide with a Bon Jovi tour.

Well, finally I’m at home and here are some thoughts about the concert that were in my mind before I’ve read the discussion here.

I decided to go to that concert because of the Munich’s reputation as a great Bon Jovi concert destination that was built through the years. After all the circumstances during the tour – promoting the new average album, Richie’s absence, the unwillingness of Jon to make serious changes in the setlist and so on, I lowered my expectations. Still I expected one hack of a concert. And after all I got it. And so.. about the concert itself.

The stadium was pretty much packed except for a couple of spots with empty seats in the rear two sections beside the entry zone for the field. The beginning was standard with the nice video for intro but TWTWMM was totally unknown for the people around me in the general admission area but for me it’s a good choice for an opener. After that thanks to the old hits the audience got into the show. After I heard It’s My Life and the announce of Because We Can I understood that before the ballads there won’t be anything special. The new songs are so boring live. As a contrast to that Keep The Faith with its cool ending once again proved that it’s one of the highlights of the tour so far. It brings so much energy that it's sad that all the momentum is killed with the ballads after that.

And after that for me began the downfall. The next 6 songs were a bit of a letdown for me. I expected something special in the catwalk part but the most interesting things that happen during it were that A) the catwalk wasn’t used and B) about 100 people were moved from the stands to the golden circle. I’ll be glad if someone else confirm that because my view wasn’t 100% good. Once again two golden circles in Munich and the second one was empty at the back, that’s for sure.
I’m afraid that Captain Crash is here to stay. Seeing the whole stadium waving their hands and Jon’s joy of that fact makes me thinking that it’ll appears very often in the European sets. Sad but true… After We Weren’t Born To Follow I deeply wanted the next song to be Who Says so that all the boring songs would have been played at this stage of the concert.

For me the show restarted with… Rockin All Over The World. Jon made the usual things to get the audience more into the concert but with the medley section he nailed it. Especially with Rockin All Over The World. The whole stadium was singing the damn song. Bad Medicine with the snippet of Shout was pretty good too.
The encore started with a nice video (I haven’t seen any videos from Vienna yet, so I don’t know whether or not this will be something standard for the encore break) which passed into Dry County. Phil’s solo was very similar to the original. The improvisations from the previous performances were gone. Before the concert I thought that in the encores the program maximum based on the setlist so far in the tour will be Dry County, These Days and Always. And fortunately that happened. Add in the mix the always superb Saturday Night, which this time lacked the middle section with the emotional speeches(I think that was because of the curfew and the willingness to perform a song or two more), and the standard Wanted and Prayer sang by the whole stadium and that made a perfect ten songs run, which started with I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead. Interesting choice for In These Arms – started from David and continued by John on the catwalk. It was a bit of a surprise for me to see Jon at that position during the encore. Finishing with These Days would have been the perfect ending but … no. I still don’t understand the fact that Jon thinks that this song must be accepted from the audience as the biggest gesture in the world. The fact is that no one cares about it. Well it was a little letdown but I felt that this was coming. I was cheered by the poster in the diamond circle that said: “Tico dominates”.

As a conclusion I think that on paper this setlist is close to the perfect that we can expect from the band at this stage of the tour. I hope that during the leg there’ll be more interesting songs added in the mix. The main part of the setlist has to be shacked up. The encores saved the show. And maybe they’ll continue to be the barometer for the quality of the next concerts. I left the stadium very happy – didn’t see the ultimate concert I was hoping for when I booked my flight 6 months ago but as I already mentioned, a couple of weeks from now I knew that this won’t happen. I felt the special attitude towards the Munich’s crowd, I heard Dry County and These Days and had a great time. We’ll see if this concert will be one of the best for the European leg or not. But for the near future until the Slane concert or the mythical Richie’s arrival I think it’ll be the best effort from the band.

Um, you do realize that a lot of US gigs are GA right? Bon Jovi concert culture does not equal all US concert culture.
