Now, THAT was a show in Munich! So encouraging - if you've lost your faith in the band this night would've won it back! And I was afraid the band wouldn't deliver in MUnich - hah! And how they did! Right from the start the band was in good spirits, the setlist had a great flow, Jon was in a good mood ("I'm in one of those kinda moods up here tonight - anything goes!", the sound was great and the stage was just excellent. Actually their best stage since 2001.

It was great when had his long speech in "Sleep" where he talked about all the places the band had gone, and then said: "And now I'm here on a beauitiful saturday night in my second home Munich Olympic Stadium". And you had to believe him after the past three shows in that place. "You remember, we had some nights in this here place me and you", Jon said.

To hear "Always" in a aversion similar to 1995, with the extended ending, which means the extra chorus after a long guitar solo, was great - though Jon did no improvisations. But still, his voice was strong, and I had one of my best Bon Jovi moments.

"We Got It Going On" went over much much better than I expected. Actually it's a great song for a live show and it got me moving. Loved it a lot. And my 9 year old niece, which I took to her very frist big concert, enjoyed it too, as she knew its on the bands current CD.

But the very best moment was when Jon said: "This is from the These Days album... It's called HEY GOD"! I freaked out. And it was great. It rocked like in the old days, and Jon kneeling on the ground, letting big breaks in the last verse after the solo, seemed much more into it as on a version that I have from 2001 in Philadelphia. Oh baby that moment actually made my year!

I wouldn't need to hear WSYCGH live again, but it couldn't take the eneryg away from the last part of the show, and when the whole stadium sang "Prayer", Jon looked hugely impressed at the crowd and said: "And that's why I keep coming back to Munich as long as you want me to!" He was overwhelmed, too.

The encore started with "I Love This Town", which fitted the scence, but didn't go over too well I think. Or it had some sound problems, I couldn't hear the voince and the guitar as clear as it should be. "Twist & Shout" was nice, but not necessary. They should've played "Make A Memory" instead. God, I love that song and not playing it is the only regret I have after a special night. It was much better than the Munich show in 2006, but failed to top the brilliant show from 2003. Anyhow, it was up with the best shows I've seen. Unbelievable!

Now I'm looking forward to Frankfurt. I love that Stuttgart and Hamburg seemed to have gotten similar special nights, and the ykeep changing up things. Still I love to hear "Hey God" again in Frankfurt and I reall ydo hope they pull out "Memory" there... and some pearl like "Damned". Now, isn't that a great band after all???!!!

Default Live from Munich by Johny

Well it took some time till my memories got sorted to tell you my feelings.

It was my second Bon Jovi show ever. The first one was Stuttgart two years ago, which was really great but this night can easily beat it.

You can read that I'm from the Czech Republic so it was a bit of travelling to Munich but I had a great time with my greatest friends in the bus. Quite annoying was that the bus was supposed to be air-conditioned but it didn't work and there were no windows. Radio also didn't work.
We arrived to Munich at 3 PM, everybody excited about getting early into the stadium and taking best places. But the driver was some kind of foold, because he parked the bus in some park, or place meant for circus or whatever. Polizei came as we got off the bus, which meant we had to get in again because the bus was about to move somewhere else and we needed to know it. We changed our direction maybe four times till we got it right to the parking place. It all took one hour so we found ourselves in the greatest crowd possible waiting for the gates to open. What's more, the crowd was queing in wrong direction. Luckily we received advice from our friend who got in earlier.
The stadium is awesome, I was amazed. I spend 35€ for the t-shirt and dog tags (that's pretty penny for Czechs!)
Waiting was really frustrating. We managed to get quite close to the fence. On the other hand, we had to stay on our feet all day long to keep the positions.

The opening act - Gianna Nannini was really horrible. I was glad when she left the stage.

So the amazing night could begin. I didn't noticed the intro, it was somehow merged with the previously aired music. At once the band members plus those two others entered the stage and I just guessed which opener we would get. I hoped for Rockin' In The Free World or something like that. Well we got Lost Highway. The song attracted people but it was not because of its quality but because the fans waited really long for them. The song is awful.
Born To Be My Baby was next and this was the real beginnig of the show for me and for all the fans.
Classic like Bad Name followed and it was exactly what the crowd needed, some rockin' well-known songs.
Raise You Hands was next and was superb as well. I don't know how to describe it, but the band seemed to be fresh and hungry to play a good show.
I felt like a fool because I always was the first who recognised the following songs. I was standing next to some not very interested fans from one side, which didn't sing or dance at all. My mates, who were next to me from the other side were enjoying show little less enthusiastically than me but much more then the others.
I recognised Just Older by Jon's traditional words: Just like fine wine just keeps getting better... I loved to hear that one,'cause I missed it in Stuttgart. Captain Crash was next. I personally enjoy this song, in Stuttgart two years back it worked perfectly but here it was one of the worse moments.
It's really important to say that the band didn't stop to say hello or something like they used to do earlier, they just played song after song.
After Crash, the concert needed to catch the people's attention again and we got Sleep. I personally skip that one on bootlegs but on a concert it works! Jon seemed to be in a ****in' great mood this evening because he had long speech after the solo. After that he asked Richie to play something and the band kicked into Mercy. Tbh I didn't know the song (the only one that evening) but I was enjoying how the band was enjoying it. Then Jon asked Bobby to play something from the jukebox and he played Start Me Up. I was really happy to hear that one live! The band did a real great job with that song and medley.
Jon sang few lines of Mercy again before he asked Tico to kick off the next song. Man I went nuts when I heard first notes of Always. My dream came true!!! They gave us good rendition of this huge hit. Richie lenghtened the final solo as long as possible and Jon bowed towards him. I have to point out that Jon struggled with last chorus but all in all he did a wonderful job.
Next song was another of the downers for me - Whole Lot Of Leavin'. I just hate the new "country" album and can't stand those songs.
In These Arms followed. After two lines of the first verse Jon let David sang the rest until the chorus, which was highly appreciated. Next one was Runaway and I was surprised because it was played in a different spot than normally. Great moment to rock again after three slower songs.
We Got It Going On was next. Many of you hate that song. In my rating it is the one of the best pieces on the bullshit album. The crowd really enjoyed it, it's a good party song.
The most shining highlight came next. Jon introduced song from These Days and I thought it will be the title track sung by Richie but I was so wrong. Jon added that it's called Hey God. One of my wildest dreams came true. Superb performance, awesome song - you can imagine which motions I was going through.
It's My Life - song which introduced me to Bon Jovi came next. I love that song but it's played way too slow now. Concert anthem Keep The Faith was right after IML. The show was in its peak this time, with Richie running on the stage during the solos!!!
I was curious which song Richie will sing us. I was hoping for Stranger In This Town and didn't want These Days just because I think it doesn't fit Richie at all and the violin solo doesn't fit it either. We got I'll Be There For You and it was another moment to remember - the crowd singing along, awesome. Even Jon was impressed and played the theme melody and the crowd began to sing it again. Then the band played Blaze Of Glory, another surprise. I didn't expect it at this stage of the concert.
Saturday Night made its return to concert. It was nice to see the band not wanting to stop playin' despite the quite heavy rain.
I'm not a fan of stupid country so I wasn't excited about Who Says. Fortunately it was played shorter than usually.
HaND was way better. I loved Richie playing his double-neck guitar (in Stuttgart it was Bobby who played the solo). This song is really concert stunner. And so is Bad Medicine. They projected us some beautiful women during that song. I forgot to say that the screens and lights were absolutely great. How they could move and split and merge again. On the other hand, it was quite disappointing that the side sreens were really low and the shorter people couldn't see at all.
Back to the setlist. Medley of Shout was played and than the chorus of Bad Medicine again.
Livin' On A Prayer was the last song of the main set. It made me shivers when I heard the whole crowd to sing the intro. When speaking about the crowd - there were according to Jon 72 000 people. Even Munich wasn't sold out. There you see how successful the album really is.
While waiting for the encores I was guessing what we could get. Well we got the worst song possible - I Love This Town. Another downer. Furthermore the video they played was meant to Gelsenkirchen and not Munich. Twist And Shout liven up the people a bit. It's a fun song but they could have choosen better. Next was Wanted. I didn't enjoy this anthem at all cause I knew the show was ending. Luckily, Jon was in a good mood and after some debate with Richie, Tico and David they played one extra song - Blood On Blood. I love this song (I love the whole NJ album). Only the damn violinist spoilt the song.

That's my view of the show, track by track. I was really sceptical after seeing the North American setlists but the band is doing ****in' great job in Europe. Hamburg and Stuttgart proved it. Every show is somehow different, they're mixing things up, playing gems. That's the way I like them!!!! Good job boys!!!!

Simon and Johny, thanks for your reviews I was in Munich too and it's nice to read reviews of other people who have attended the gig. I also think the concert was fantastic and I'll definitely try to come to Munich next time, as the atmosphere was just incredible

Jon always says 72,000 in Munich because that's the number he's been told years ago. It's been around 70,000 and that is pretty much sold out.
Despite you not liking it (I got that when you first said it), Lost Highway is pretty successful.

In Europe, especially the UK and Ireland it bombed.

But it is a semi experimental album so it was never going to please everyone.
