Novocaine sounded great- I love that song anyway. But lots of people sat for it. Kinda bummed me out cuz people were on their feet for every other HAND song but not my personal fave. Even my boyfriend sat- and he's a bigger fan than I am! We were on the very side of the stage (Richie's side , and when Jon went to the ramp that goes up on the side, he was so close- that got my boyfriend back up on his feet! I said to him, you showed him you're not a real fan by not being up and singing every word to Novocaine! ha ha

I was pissed they played I Got the Girl. Honestly- who cares about that song? It's so seriously mediocre. But I'm sure it's close to his heart so I can respect that.

I really have to stop paying attention to the setlists on the road cuz it is such a bummer when there's really no surprises. The most I was ever surprised was the final show of the Bounce tour at Giants...they shocked us with so many early gems!! I'll never forget hearing "I'd Die For You" live for the first time in ages at the Vet...or when they did "Living in Sin", "Blood on Blood" at Giants and we just lost our minds. I love big surprises!

Bring back Keep the Faith! The Distance! Just Older!

Saturday Night (electric) was just too awesome. I love when Jon ad-libs a new verse. To me, that song and Keep the Faith are always their best live performances because they do so many original things with them.

As much as I hate TLFR (and how funny was Jon when he said "Don't kiss my ass- I know you hated it!" HA HA HA), I really liked hearing those versions of "I'll Be There For You" and "Always." I love Jon & Richie's close harmonies on IBTFY. Always is fun because the crowd sings the song as we know it and Jon keeps singing his own version. It's like he's singing harmony with us! That crowd was just too into it- totally great! They have to be playing the TLFR versions now cuz Jon just can't handle the range of the originals- and I don't blame him, the poor guy. Every now and then he'd eek out a high note and I'd be impressed!! I think he actually sang the last "Livin' on a Prayer!" before the guitar solo! He never sings that! It sounded almost too good that I think it could've been tracked.

Speaking of high notes- actually "I Am" is my number one fave on HAND right after "Novocaine"- but sadly, I don't think we'll ever hear it live. The song is just too high. Even if he lowered the key (which he seems to be doing for most of the HAND songs), it would still be high. And it probably wouldn't sound all that hot either. I LOVE THAT SONG!

I noticed that Richie doesn't sing as much harmony as he used to now that they have the extra guys in the band- good for him! But I do miss his sound. Thank God he sings when he absolutely must (like the stuff in Wanted or IBTFY)- I would miss his soulfulness. I got nuts when I hear him sing. Hell, he could sing "I Am"! That's one guy that hasn't lost his range.

I was pissed this whole time reading the setlists that they keep playing Treat Her Right- but it's actually kinda fun. And you get to see Jon shake his ridiculously perfect ass so I can't complain (and this is coming from a Richie girl!).

Going back tonight- I'm hoping for some surprises. I hope they bring "Last Cigarette" back!!! I think where I'm sitting tonight I might actually get better all around sound. The sides aren't good for that. THey even sounded tight from the bathroom! (I went during "It's My Life"! HA HA That's one song I really don't need to stay around for- have heard it enough.

Did he really say that? That's funny.

Sure did! I was losing it, it was too funny!! And I said, "you got that right!!"

Jon's speech after "Novocaine" about women couldn't be more true. So funny. YES WE RULE THE WORLD! No wonder he's been married so long to his high school sweetheart! He knows you just have to say yes!!!

He gave that speech about women too at Mohegan.

See, this is what I don't get. He knows most people don't like TLFR, yet, he takes 2 of their biggest songs, and performs them that way.

No doubt he does it because it's easier on his voice- the range of the songs is shortened considerably in those versions. As long as he doesn't do Lay Your Hands on Me a la TLFR I'll be fine. I hate hate HATE that version with a passion!!! It is cringe-worthy!

Does anyone else find it rather odd that they played 2 cover songs...I mean a band with how many albums, around for how long and they play 2 songs that aren't their own? From what I saw on the Times Square show webcast, Treat Her Right was pretty sweet (although I had never heard the song before). I'm not too sure what "Good Lovin'" is but it better be die hard kick ass for them to play a second cover song.

Good Lovin is a song made famous by another Jersey band in the late '60's - the Young Rascals.
