Bullshit. A comedian tells the same story over and over again as well. That doesn't make it less funny to the audience, or less funny to the comedian. A good joke is a good joke, a good song is a good song, and well done acting by the band is simply well done acting by the band. The audiences love it so it works for them. Do they pretend the random cover song stuff? Yes. Is it boring? Not really, and if it means Bad Medicine is exciting to hear again simply because you're not sure what song you'll get I'm all for it. I'm pretty sure they changed Bad Medicine like this for the die hards as the song now has something special for them as well.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I cant fault the Bad Medicine medley, yeah they do all the schtick pretending its all off the cuff, but still they have chucked a good few songs into the mix- Roadhouse Blues, Bad Case Of Loving You, Old Time Rock N Roll, Hot Legs and Pretty Woman which they have done well at mixing up and its beat hearing Shout in it over and over.

I can see where the point of the speeches being repeated and insincere, but everyone who tours many places will rely on repeated speeches, its not just Jovi so I wouldnt be harsh on them for that.

Hey Im quite happy with the set. As other people said there was probably a strict 2 hour time limit. They played Diamond Ring which is a semi-rarity this tour (and a big rarity every other tour in the 2000s) and they added a Jumpin Jack Flash for the first time this tour to Sleep. Plus, they kept it to a good set of songs from different albums, even though there was one two many LH songs and probably shoulve been replaced by a Circle song. Everyone complains too much..

It looks like most of the conversations these days, veer toward the everybody does it, it has been like that forever, it's the way it is. We know our opinions mean squat, Jon, the band will do as they please, but I see no problem with those fans that would like things to change a little.

Granted that the majority of the crowds might go to one or two shows per tour, and even if going for years, they won't mind the same banter and actions. For those that normally go to 10/15 shows per tour, and have done it for years and years, it might become boring to a bigger or lesser degree.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I would say that we all have been at concerts, where the banter got a great response from the crowd, but in those instances that Jon customized it, adding comments about the local football team, or food or when they were there last something happened, etc... then the crowd went wild. IMO would be a great improvement to see him improvise more often, but as I said earlier, I know my opinion means nothing.

A few pictures from Richie's side of the beach (and a link to more) . . .

Here's the story behind the Gibson shaped like the state of Alabama - http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyl...a-guitar-0914/. Richie seemed to enjoy playing it, but many of my Facebook friends thought it was ugly. I hadn't heard about it before the show and did a major double-take when I saw it. I guess after 22 years in the south, I've turned into a good ol' girl, because I thought it was pretty cool! So shoot me . . .

Great pics, Terri. I like the Alabama guitar. It's cool. And I'm not from the South. Now I'm just waiting for the Minnesota shaped one.... Which song did he use it for?

Richie actually saw the camera and looked. That's cool.

I didn't take quite as many pictures as usual, so I'm not totally positive. It was either Lost Highway or Whole Lot of Leavin'.

I happened to think about taking a panorama shot before it got too dark. I usually forget all about that feature.

Yes, we stayed at the Phoenix All Suites. I was very pleased with where we were in relation to the concert itself.

Nix pix, Terri! I think the Alabama guitar is cool and kind of ugly at the same time. I think they could have used a prettier finish.

I just hope the band realized that there is a market for them in Alabama and that they'll come back to the state when touring.

Bigger crowd than Buffet (35,000-37,000)
