Checkout the beggin of Bad Name solo...
I'd put the problem in that (even though it really wasn't that bad) down to the fact he's playing a Les Paul which has no whammy bar, which is a rather integral part of the beginning of the Bad Name solo

But yeah this show is shite in general. I'm not too worried though, they always pick up.

I'd say that if you've played a song over 1.000 times surely you should be able to play a guitar solo without a whammy bar. Emisambora is right, Richie was off. He was as good at that show as he was in Amsterdam night 1.

Sebastiaan

Jon looked like he was seriously struggling with a cough/throat at the end of Prayer. Not very confident about the upcoming tour of belting high parts. So with Jon's voice this poor this rules out the following:

These Days
Love Song
Hey God
Something To Believe In
I Believe
Dry County
Living In Sin

Sorry to be a party pooper for all you die hards but expect mediocre set lists for the upcoming tour

Well I have to disagree Seb, the opening to that solo is played on a whammy bar, yes there are ways around it but it's faffy as hell. If he'd played it on a guitar with a whammy bar it would have been fine. I'm not saying Richie wasn't off, there was some really sloppy guitar playing in this show, especially in Captain Crash, but that particular example was a poor one.

I don't care how he sings them when I'm there. I'm generally singing over him. He can sing as badly as he wants as far as I'm concerned, so long as he's on his game if there's a camera capturing it all.

Ha too true. Just dont buy the DVD. It is a good point you make there actually. How much of Jon's vocals do you really hear at a live Jovi show or any other gig? I just think for Jon this matters and he will opt for the safer options.

Because of a single, one-off show, you've completely ruled out 7 songs from a year+ tour that won't start for two more months? Ridiculous.

iHeart too. Just a few months for Jon to get match fit isn't that long. Stinks of arrogance if you ask me. I'm disappointed thats all. Every show no matter how big or small should be given 100%. Thats inclusive of preparation. Also try these pre tour shows to try out the new stuff. The odd song. It wont hurt. Bon Jovi will never be a hit in the charts again so its not like it'll impede any chart positions.

It kind of depends on how well you listen to a performance. When I was 16 I got sucked into the moment, because I was a teeny bopper. I've grown out of that phase thank you very much, and pity the people still thinking everything sounds so brilliant at a Bon Jovi show, and don't seem to be able to take in what happens on stage. In a way it works for Bon Jovi though, would people hear everything that happens I very much doubt they'd be as estatic as they are nowadays. How many of the people at a Bon Jovi show really hear how Bobby ****s up guitar solo's? I've met die hards in America who are all about "Bobby ****s it up" while all they do is be a parrot and repeat what others say. Tell them it sounds brilliant and they'll agree as well.

Jon needs about 30 shows til his pipes have warmed up again, I'm glad Europe is after the American tour. Let the Americans get their dire stuff they're so fond off, they don't seem to realize after all these years that Jon doesn't think too much of that part of the tour apart from it being a serious money maker. So yeah, this show is quite the benchmark for the first few American shows, unless Jon realizes that he shouldn't want to be willing to get away with it. I'm sure he can, but there should be such a thing as taking pride in your own performance.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Salaam Aleikum,

I'm gonna defend myself here in saying that I didn't imply anything of the sort just in case this comes back on me. I'm at a concert to enjoy myself, not analyse everything. It's all about that 2 hours + and seeing a band I love for the fun of it because I don't get to too often. A mistake here and there is fine by me as long as it doesn't totally mess up the show.
