Seeing all new songs back to back to back, in some ways, was like seeing the band for the first time. I knew something was up when they launched into Summertime instead of Bad Name second. I was so "high" from the Lost Highway experience that by the time they got to "Raise Your Hands," I was thinking, "It just can't get any better than this....................... unless they play Wild is the Wind and Lay Your Hands on Me and Keep the Faith and Saturday Night and Blood on Blood and Jon sings I'll Be There for You again as if that will ever happen." Four out of six ain't bad! Jon singing I'll Be There for You, the proper version, not the TLFR version, was worth the trip to New Jersey. Fantastic. Jon sounded great on every song. His voice was strong and his energy was boundless. Richie looked happier than I've seen him in... ever. Seriously. Hearing Jon talk about the Lost Highway writing was nice too and it was great when Richie just walked over and hugged Jon. I think it's telling that the two people who've inspired Jon's writing the most are his wife and his best friend. It's interesting that even the songs Richie didn't cowrite on LH have Richie all over them through Jon's empathy for what his friend has gone through.
