This is it, exactly. Don't get me wrong, it was fantastic for them to go on with the show. But it amazes me the number of people posting on this and other sites that want to prop the band up on a pedestal for playing.

I had tickets and it would have been a 2+ hour drive (in normal weather) through Mass and Connecticut to get to the show. I don't have to rehash the chain of events, but it was UNBELIEVABLY frustrating deciding whether to make the trip or not. When friends in CT told me the highways were still in terrible shape, I decided to stay home. I tried to get a refund through Ticketmaster (playing "the roads are legally closed" card) and they nonchalantly kept blaming the band and promoter. An hour beore the show was officially cancelled, I had Ticketmaster literally tell me I was SOL if I chose to stay home. Yes, I know it is out of Tiketmaster's control, but they'll gladly take my service fee every time I buy a ticket.

I would never complain about the show itself or setlist, but lets not plant a heap load of praise on JBJ and the band either.

Anyways, i'm pretty sure he's not trying to copy Bruce on this one.
I can't remember which one, but an interview was posted on here last week and in it, jon was saying that bruce USED to be a big influence when he was a teenager, but not he no longer follows his music or listens to it, because he doesnt like or wants to avoid comparisons (or something like that, i cant remember). He also mentionned they weren't actual friends but they speak to each other a couple of times a year.
Jon should listen to Bruce's newer stuff. He'd get some ideas on how to write socially conscious music that doesn't come off as contrived and stale.

Same goes for the stage. Bruce runs ariund and interacts with the crowd alot more than Jon 'hide behind ny guitar' Bon Jovi.

I wouldn't say Jon rips him off but the grabbing a girl from the crowd was done by Bruce back in the 80s.

Call me ignorant, but to say that what Jon did to call out a girl to sing with him is ripping Bruce is absolutely pathetic. Dozens of artists have done that. This is the most stereotypically ridiculous Jon-Bruce comparison I've ever heard, and boy there have been quite a few of them here. And don't get me wrong, I love Bruce. And his influence on Jon is unquestionable. But this is too much.

Does Jon also rip off Bruce when he lets the crowd sing the first verse of Wanted? Because Bruce does the same with Hungry Heart. Right? RIGHT???

1.Jon should have postponed the show on Thursday, Friday at worst. He was a stubborn ass and didn't postpone it until the last possible minute.

2.The decision to postpone wasn't all Jon. In fact, most reports say it was the CEO of Mohegan Sun who got fed up with all the complaints from people that were supposed to be there or have hotel rooms and at that point, weren't going to get there money back.

3.None of this unfolded until WTNH in Connecticut and a New York TV Station started reporting on the situation and basically saying "What the **** is Bon Jovi thinking, endangering his fans?"

So, taking those things into account, is it really any surprise he did what he did? Sure, he gave those 2,000 people a free show which is great, but don't let the guy fool you. Can you imagine the backlash he would have faced from those people if he had decided to postpone and not perform at all? And I would bet my next paycheck, an agreement was worked out between the band and the casino for them to play. It kept people at the casino, and kept them happy.

It worked out awesome for the fans, no doubt. I just can't stand seeing all these morons on Facebook saying what a fantastic man he is, and that's why we love him. Had his arm not been twisted, he would have put everyone at risk of driving in one of the worst blizzards in New England's history or losing their money.
I agree with everything in this post.

Here's a better clip of Wild is the Wind. Sounds alright for the first show of a tour. I hope it becomes a regular.

Here's a short clip of Keep the Faith.

On a side note, I did see that a place in southwestern Connecticut got 40 inches of snow.

Here's What About Now. I quite like this song live.

I couldn't agree more with you .. sorry to quote with the usual and pointless 'I agree' but while I hesitate now to post anything here I just had topost my agreement on that one ...

and I wanted to add: if the calling a fan on stage is definitely not just Bruce (by far) an attempt to make it <<the coolest interaction with fans>> is worrying me a bit for the future... I hope it is not gonna stay and become the THING for each show- LIKE THE INFAMOUS *I wanna be a BOR girl * crap (fingers crossed tonight is not going to have a guest again)

It's not pathetic. Bruce famously did it in his Dancing In The Dark video in 1984. Anyone who has done it afterwards is just copying him. Bono does it in some shows but he lays down with the person and sings to them which is a variation of what Bruce does, so can't be defined as a straight rip off.

Jon is basically a mix of Elvis / Jagger / Springsteen. These days he doesn't do any of them particular justice.

Thanks for the links! My wife DESPERATELY wants Wild Is The Wind at Villa Park - UK. Every show we've been to together for the past 6 years has resulted in disappointment for her for this song. It's definately looking positive for this one
