I guess by the choreography you mean Blood on Blood, and Wild in the streets? hmm. No other songs come to mind though, were there others?

Yep, Gloria was played during Bad Medicine. I loved it when Jon called over all the guys and they huddled in the back for a "secret meeting". Then they all turned around and strutted forward to the beat.

On to the rest of the show..
Yes, the beginning was slow.Loved it when Jon started counting down the years for Runaway but then Radio was played and.. sucked the life that had just been brought to the table. It's really too bad that Jon doesn't sing the chorus like in the boxset. It would have made the song 10x better.
After Radio it DID pick up. Unfortunately, the sound during I Wanna Be Loved was really loud and drowned Jon's voice from where I was standing. I absolutely love the song so I was pretty upset that I could barely the words especially during the chorus. Luckily Novocaine was awesome! Good CLEAR performance that perked me up after my IWBL let down.

I'll Be There For You ELECTRIC
Thank god too cause I probably would've sat down if it was TLFR
The only time I did sit down was when my mum said the woman behind me couldn't see. I told her to tell the woman to stand up but my mum waved her hand around and said something I couln't make out. I sat down for a second till the woman behind me told me she was actually just commenting "It's Allright!" x50 part. I stood back up and felt stupid cause I lost the moment. Oh well.

Highlights:
Novocaine
I'll Be There For You
Bad Medicine [was sick of the song for the longest time but it was great live]
and on from that point

Btw, in my section there were about three women that were dragged out because they were drunk and could barely kneel let alone stand. This was like.. 5 songs in. Still, it was a great experience. I met some fellow British Columbians [that's what we're called, right?] and pissed my money away on tshirts and posters. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I tihnk Spunky's comments are very valid. She has some excellent points. As she herself said (in a way) she's a casual fan. I have friends who like the bands music, but find Jon's "posing" to be obnoxious. I don't agree that it's juvenile or immature, but I can see where someone would say that. I guess after 20+ years, I'm just numb to it. Jon is Jon. Whether you love him or hate him, one thing is a fact - He knows how to work an arena, and that's what he's there to do. He knows what he is, and he knows what sends his fans home happy. It's the same thing that's never made them critics darlings. As the old saying goes, "Sex Sells".

In the same respect, this is one thing that has always impressed me so much about Jon. I'll admit - The man is my idol on a very high platform to me. The fact that he can make women swoon over him the way he can and at the same time have this rock prescence that captivates a guy like me, is very rare.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the critical reviews of the show, especially refreshing at the band's forum. Your analyses in comparison to the canned report by the P-I and other newspapers is so much more insightful.

As for back in the day.. well I didn't see them til 1995 so I guess I missed Richie's "choreography".
He doesn't like to move around, no connection to wireless or otherwise. ......and yes, you did miss alot and no ,you don't put Choreography in parenthesis. Parentheisis indicate derision, as if what they were doing barely passes for choreography. You didn't see it so you don't know.

Watch the YGLABN video, those moves Richie and the band are doing were not just skits done for the video, they were performed on stage on tour and YGLABN was only one song in a string of them with moves like that. If you watch One Last Wild Night when they perform the song, Jon and Richie actually do a wry homage to that "walk" during the intro. In and Out of Love was another one that featured quite a bit.

I'm not really criticizing Richie for not moving around. It's possible that the choreography today just wouldn't go over as authentic anymore. But Richie did have quite a bit more stage presence in the 80s/early 90s than he does now where he mostly just plays guitar and little else. He was as noticable and spotlighted almost as much as Jon back then. Now he's just the guitarist playing in the background with the rest of the band while the spotlight is centered on Jon.

Blood on Blood
Wild in the Streets
You Give Love a Bad Name
In and Out of Love
I'd Die For You
Breakout
Let It Rock

They all have some degree. Most of the songs from the first album have some degree.

Oh wow. Thanks a bunch, I'll have to watch some old live footage to check it out.

oh oh oh oh nooooo, I am not considering myself a casual fan. Though compared to 99% of backstage I might be a casual fan.

A causal fan does not own all albums (many in different release forms), a casual fan does not see shows even though the new album blows, a casual fan does not hang around for 20 years, a casual fan does not seek out rarities and b-sides, a casual fan does not....

I guess the accurate term is: I am a fan! NOT a blind/mindless/easy swallowing/havingwetdreamsaboutjon kind of fan

did I clear that up?

To me it doesn't really matter where he starts... it's more about at that moment you know OMG Jon is coming out and then there he is. It's that excitement and anticipation leading up to that moment and when it happens and he actually starts singing.. forget it. Yes he has his back to the majority of the audience but it is only for one song. And most people in the front still turn around to just get a glimpse of the back of his head. His fix on people is pretty damn amazing. I have to agree with Dan I thought it was a brilliant move. For the people who don't normally see the band or who don't read the message boards when they see Jon at the back of the arena it is a MAJOR surprise for them and I think it is a great way to make even the people in the nosebleeds feel like they have a front row seat even if it's just for one song. To me starting at the back means Jon is trying to reach the fans who are in ROW ZZ and have them feel special. I also have thought that out of the three different tours I have seen them on Jon seems to be very real this time around and enjoying himself a great deal. Never once did it seem that he was on auto pilot just going through the motions like some of the shows on the Bounce tour.
I agree with everything she said. In Omaha, Jon came out onstage immediately with LMS. In Nashville and Tampa, he was at the back. I think it's a great way to start the show because all those people sitting on the 3rd tier at the back of the arena thinking, "My seats suck" get to have a thrill they weren't expecting. It's one song. Those people at the front have Jon right in front of them the majority of the show. Starting at the back, coming around the side, and playing from the side of the arena has brought more fans into a closer experience than they were expecting. It leaves everyone knowing that it could have been them that Jon was so close to. I also find it pretty funny because Bon Jovi's the only show I've been to where everyone in the audience turned around and faced the back of the arena when the band came out onstage. LOL

It seems like the onstage actions/interactions vary by show. At all the shows I've attended, Richie has been into it and Jon and Richie play off of one another constantly. Jon has been interacting with the band members and the audience, whether it was singing a line of Novocaine to David like he was telling him a story or reaching out to the fans. He doesn't jump up and down like he used to, but I don't expect him to. He's 44 years old and has bad knees. It's better to take it easier than risk being limited by a cast or brace because he tore/ruptured something.

I agree with what Dan was saying too--Jon's the only guy I've seen who is able to keep an entire audience completely smitten for 2 1/2 hours--males and females. I was so proud of the band in Omaha! I went with 1 girl who was a fan like me and 3 who were not the kind of fans we were. They had never even seen the band before. But the three of them all left saying it was one of the best shows they'd ever seen and praising Jon for being a singer who can really sing along with entertaining the crowd. Two of them had such a great time, they wound up driving to the Denver show.

When I saw the band the first time on this tour, I was apprehensive that I'd be disappointed because they wouldn't put on a really GREAT show. I've been to 4. 3 were GREAT and my perception of the other probably had more to do with my current mindset than the show itself because everyone around me was having a great time.
