I was at the December show and last Thursday's show in DC. I felt badly for them. It was obvious that something was wrong. Jon even said when he returned for the encore, "you guys are so patient."

Exactly. And I for one am thankful they don't cancel shows unless it is absolutely necessary. Jon was obviously not feeling 100% on the 30th in Toronto, he didn't talk much between songs, though he did say he "had a frog in his throat", the show was 15 minutes shorter than the 2 1/2 hour standard, and we didn't get any audibles, however, my sister and I had both taken 2 vacation days, spent almost $400 each for plane tickets, split $250 for 2 nights hotel room, plus costs to and from the airports. We would have been more than disappointed if we had gone to the venue and learned the show had been cancelled due to illness, as we would spent all that money for nothing, wasted 2 vacation days, plus probably lost our only chance to see them this tour.

And to be honest, I think non hardcore fans probably didn't even notice anything was wrong, because even when they are not feeling 100% Bon Jovi still puts on a kick ass show.

Absolutely right. They did, what they had to like a very good athlete (like Agassi in the Roland Garros last time).

If they can walk and talk, they need to play. Cancel is the last thing. They did the right thing.

I've noticed a few people in this thread talking about Jon looking worn out at this show and blaming it on whatever illness he has. Well, it got me thinking... he hasn't been looking good most of the tour. I was watching the Nokia Theater performance on AOL tonight and he seemed preoccupied and exhausted. And look back through videos and photos from some of the late December/early January shows, same thing. Perhaps there's a bigger problem here than one off night in DC.

I can understand anyone being disappointed if it was their first/only show, but try to think of it from every point of view. With everything going on this week, I have a lot of respect for them even putting on the show at all. This is Bon Jovi we're talking about, they're still good even at their worst. If you're a true fan, you'll be understanding that every one of the guys did the best they could under the circumstances. And really, it couldn't have been bad enough to want your money back!
And that's all I have to say on the matter.

I was at this show. Jon's voice was actually decent when he was able to sing. It wasn't that he couldn't sing "high" so that's why for the most part ITA was actually very good he would just get in spurts where nothing was coming out so he would just stop singing. LOAP was not the TLFR version (didn't have the different bridge) but more like the version done for the 9/11 benefits so a hybrid of the 94 version and just an acoustic version.

And the show was still right at 2 hours. By far not the best show from an energy stand point but I thought the set list was decent.

I'm with the above poster. Even when JBJ isn't perfect, he's still amazing and seeing him and the band live is always a great experience.

At the risk of sounding like a juvenille school girl, I must admit that during one of the last songs, Jon was chewing gum and it was sooo sexy. I can't remember what song it was but I remember the way he looked AND sounded and it was . . . delicious.
