hi!

i think that they probably start off with 'one wild night' pretty often, it fits very well because of the title and it's a real rock song. good openers are 'i believe' or 'hey god', but let's see. i'm sure the band will create a great show!!!

I've had a think about this one. I would prefer something different to LOAP & OWN.

I think perhaps Tokyo Road could be a great opener.

Other than that I Believe would be good as well as Lay your hands on me.

The marching band with Lay Your Hands On Me like they did in Yokohama 1996 is cool too!

I'm with you. I never got a chance to see them in the 80s so I've never heard that song live in person.

I totally think they should open with "I Believe".

It's so up beat and rockin' (and that's what they're shooting for with Bounce) that I don't see any other way. Look for "Hey God", "Something To Believe In" to be shoe ins as well.

On second thought, how sexy would it be to open with "Something To Believe In"? It would start the night off in a spooky, but awesome way.

Just a thought.

I don't know about an opener, but how about "no ballads" during the show? Ok, fine...limit it to one (my girlfriend likes to hear at least one!)

Wait, on second thought, how about opening up with a their version of "Rockin' In the Free World" For my money's worth, their version is better than the original.

Take Care,
Norm

Uhh, how about dropping that song and never ever play it again... Is it too obvious that I don't like it?

I think Everyday would be a cool opener. The first song kind of sets the mood for the rest of the show though and I doubt they would be able to keep up with what they started because that's not what the casual listener wants to hear. But let's see, maybe they can surprise me. I know they could if they wanted to.
The more I talk about Everyday as opener the more I like it. I can already see people jumping up and down.

DEFINATELY NOT Let It Rock as an opener.

People, the first song is almost always at least steady paced and pounding. Let it Rock drags. I love the song..but jesus, not as an opener!! Even the band knew better than to use that as the opener on the Slippery tour....lifting the Pink Flamingos keyboard intro and using that as the build up before slamming into Raise Your Hands...which made a hell of a lot more sense.

One Wild Night....NO! Why would any of you push that? That's repeating themselves yet AGAIN! I was NOT happy when they were opening with Prayer and Bad Name yet AGAIN on the 2000 tour. Don't encourage them to keep being lazy and playing the same crap over and over. I love the song so it got nothing to do with it....it's encouraging the band to stay lazy and not reinvent the live show.

Opening with "It's My Life" would be ok...at least a bit different...but.....I am not a fan of starting with a song where the first verse starts so soon. You gotta have time for build up. This is assuming they don't make any changes to the song structure. If they extended the opening to make it longer before the first verse kicks in....then it might work. But the cuts in the steady pace during the verses kinda mucks up the vibe.

"I Believe" is an example of a perfect opener..so kudos to those who suggested it. Yes, it's been done before..the difference from One Wild Night and Prayer is....NOT ANYTIME RECENTLY has it been done.

A song off the new album is usually a good call....heralding they are in fact promoting the new album and not some other album..but it's too early to tell. There may not be a single song on the new album that really works as an opener..ala These Days (Hey God can work...but the peaks and valleys in the song also mess with the energy level..especially the part following the solo.) Someone said Everyday won't work cuz of how it opens??? Uhm..I don't know what that was all about...the opening is more than fine for opening the show with..perfect actually...it's the break down during the 2nd verse that disqualifies it as an opener.

Going by the catalog....I personally would pick Good Guys Don't Always Wear White...it's never truly had it's day on the tour circuit...it reflects the same philosophies of Bounce and the energy and attack of the song is perfect as an opener.

Yeah, it actually could work..as long as the 2nd song really picks it up. It really depends on the approach they want to take. Most choose to "punch them in the face" ....sometimes they walk you in though. Pink Floyd tends to use Shine On You Crazy Diamond as the opening song....which is very mellow and gradually builds up.....not unlike Something To Believe In.

So if they actually ever did do that..I'd recommend..open mellow and walk the audience into the show with Something to Believe In and then SLAM them with Hey God.

It wouldn't be out of the realm of possiblity, Jon opened many of his shows on the Destination Anywhere tour with Not Fade Away......what most of these types of openings have in common is they gradually build up..or once they do build up..they don't slow back down. That's why Prayer worked as an opener....once that soothing keyboard intro is replaced by Tico beating the opening drum roll..it doesn't slow back down, keeping a steady pounding beat that got the audience jumping.
