Default phil x stage posistion

don't get me wrong: but why is phil X standing right next to jon where richie used to be ? on the circle tour, only richie and jon were on the front of the stage while the rest of the band stayed on the back. i know having ONLY jon in the front given richie's absence would probably leave a hole in the stage but it's rather unfair for the 'non' official band members who have been around for ages (bobby and especially, Hugh) to remain in the back (bobby's taken a bit of the front as well). it's as though phil is given too much importance when he should only be seen as a fill in for Richie Sambora..

I know I'm being incredibly rude here, but who gives a **** where Phil is standing? Everyone is over analyzing this far too much.

It seemed to me that Phil's mic might be a little farther back from the front edge of the stage than Richie's is. They've also brought Bobby out of the full shadows and put him in a similar spot on Jon's left. They're not getting full lighting during a lot of songs, though, so I guess they're sort of in partial shade.

I'm probably as overly-sensitive as just about anyone on this subject, but even after seeing a show, I can't be mad at Phil. He's doing nothing to act like he's taking over or dissing Richie in any way. He doesn't even move to the same part of the stage that Richie uses when it's time for a solo. He either stays at his mic or moves to the right of the mic and away from center stage. He's very restrained (maybe too restrained) on most of his solos. The only ones I can remember him getting really animated during were LYHOM and KTF, and he can hardly be faulted for that. They're that kind of song.

I can't argue with that other than to say that I find what he does to Bed of Roses to be the most painful of all. ACK!

I agree! He should play the show with his back facing the crowd, hidden in a container under the stage and put a cardboard cut out of Richie on the stage, and make it open to the public so people can lay flowers, stuffed animals and get well cards there after the show is done.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I think his solos in BOR, ITA and LYHOM are equally painful and not one of them is less horrible than the other.

And because this is a "Phil's position" thread, I'd like to add that I'm fine with his location.
