I get a replacement guitarist not nailing the guitar solo's note for note when they start playing with a band but saying none of the solo's are "technically that difficult" after you've never, ever, after about 200 shows, nailed any of them is a bit odd to say the least. Surely if he could do it he'd have played them right at least once?

When Richie improvised it rarely ever felt out of place yet when he's doing the solo's themselves they still feel out of place. He just lacks the bluesy feel Richie has and it shows every time he gets a chance to shine. It's all nice and well for the majority of people not hearing the difference but once you do it just sounds wrong.

I thought by now he'd have learned how to add the proper flow to the solo's but instead they've drifted off to something generic and how every random guy would play this stuff; the occasional recognizable lick in between random fills and riffs. That's all well and good if you're playing in a cover band doing random covers by random bands but if you're playing in a band doing nothing but Bon Jovi songs the solo's need to be spot on.

He did also say that getting the correct emotion across is really difficult. If by technically hard he's referring to really fast playing then he's not wrong to say Bon Jovi songs aren't like this. But I agree he's a bit arrogant at times.
