The Wachovia Center is your standard arena. It seats about 19-20,000 depending on the set up of the stage. I guess it somewhat depends on personal preference but the floor is just like your average floor, as is section seats and nose bleeds. I saw a concert once from a box and that was pretty awesome but the ticket price was standard no matter where you sat. Bon Jovi will not be the same.
I don't know if I can answer the question about a decent hotel because I go home as it's a very short commute for me to the Wachovia Center. I do know that there are plenty of hotels around the area. Here's a quick search I did on yahoo:
