prayer opening the show - any video?

and the fact that you think it is so necessary is exactly my point...it seems a lot of people go back and forth - oh its nothing just some backing help you can barely notice to the other extreme of the above...

if they cant sing it, it sounds awful without backing tapes...then its faking it...

if they need to do it bec every arena bands does it thats a DIFFERENT argument and i get it and i disagree...

even karaoke is live - singing along with yourself, when if you sang alone it sounds terrible is absolutely faking it - sorry, it is...

i however dont agree with the above poster - i think they sound pretty good and it does just kinda help, so more acceptable, and richie does a great job of doing the best he can to cover with the talkbox - totally agree onthat - pretty impressive actually...

One of the very first performances. Unfortunately such performances destroyed Jon's voice so they had to find a solution. That solution was that Jon just did not sing the chorus at all, it was playback or backing track but way louder than today (they do it from 198 with David, Richie and Alec singing over it. And that what what they still do - they sing over it. The backing track is here to save them when someone's voice cracks or when someone is ill and need his voice for other songs and shows.
