I'm not sure why people insist there was something more going on. You know he felt like shit and you know he knows it wasn't a great performance. It's not like he said that the show was great and the whole tour went perfectly. Anyone who has allergies can testify to how out of it they can make you feel and sometimes the medication is worse than the allergies themselves. Sometimes the simplest answer is the real answer.

if that's in relation to the no drinking thing:

them not drinking alot keeps them in shape, drink ruins your voice (not good when thats what pays your wages) its generally not a good idea to be getting smashed every night even if it is regarded as the rock n roll thing to do.

as for the crew not being allowed to drink: according to people who've worked for them the way they see it is that they're there to do a job and you can't do a job 100% if you're drunk or hungover.

i'm sure it's not a total blanket ban but they don't want someone who's in charge of making sure 50 tonnes of rigging don't fall on their head isn't pissed or hungover and dying to get to bed when he's setting the stage up

They're just boring in general. If other bands do a bad show the reason is usually something fun like hangover or temper tantrum.

Jon had an allergy. Whee.

the guys nearing his mid 40s i'd think he was a pleb if they did a crap show because of drink.

if you've ever been to see a band you really like that have disappointed because theyve been stoned, coked or drunk out of their face then you wouldn't be too impressed with them being "cool and interesting" trust me.

True. But I'd rather be disappointed by something "interesting" than "hayfever" considering he didn't let hayfever ruin any other shows.

i can sympathise with someone who under performs because their hayfever is pretty bad that day, i cant when ive forked out 50 quid to see someone who can barely sing because theyve been drinking and shoving stuff up their nose all day.

the reality of all things rock and roll is actually pretty depressing

Is it too much to ask for Jon to go on a giant bender and make an ass of himself so I can have something to giggle about? Where am I supposed to find my entertainment if not through other people's mistakes? GodDAMMIT.

i'm talking merely from the point of view that being in a band you get to see all that "cool" stuff from the inside out not looking at it from the outside in and it's far from cool.

but just ignore me, i'm just jaded with it all

Its not that hard and I'm sure the fans would have understood albeit a little.

Hayfever my arse something else was going at Hull.
that is exactly what I have been saying since the beginning of all this. He always mentions when he is unwell, thats what makes me believe that it was a bad mood.
