Just listened to that These Days performance... just awful. Saying it's not their worst performance or better than the ones from the past couple years is no barometer for success. It's hard to listen to an awful version like this of one of my very favorite songs, and, in my opinion, one of the best songs ever recorded. I'm currently listening to the performance of These Days from Rio de Janeiro on the Circle Tour, and granted, it was 7.5 years ago now, but it was immeasurably better than what just happened last night. Even the performances from 2013 are leaps and bounds better.

I agree with what was posted above. We're not slagging off the band just because we want to, we're doing it because we want to see them realize their potential. We've seen them so much better not very long ago.

Following the trajectory they're currently on, it's going to be more and more difficult to watch this band fade away the way they are. And you can't blame us for not wanting to see that... especially when this band has been a big part of the lives of so many of us.

Once they’re not in activity anymore, the balance between good / bad era will readjust itself naturally though.

Personally, a lot of what they've done up until 2011 will remain forever engraved in my memory as one hell of a ride. That's almost 30 years of gold.

Ok - I just listened to the These Days video and also to Blood on Blood. I guess my review is middle of the road. I honestly don't think it is as bad as many on this thread have claimed. Go listen to These Days from Giants Stadiums last night in 2006 - that was bad. I was delighted to hear These Days here at home but even when I was listening to it live I was cringing. Things improved greatly since then - thank god.

I'm not claiming that this is great - it isn't. But I have heard worse and considering how awful Jon sounded on the last tour here this is an improvement. I would like to hope that he would continue working on his voice as he must have done between 2006 and 2008. Perhaps there will be one more tour of Europe and then a homecoming show here at MetLife next summer.

I can dream can't I?

Jon is not going to retire Bon Jovi after the RARHOF / or this tour.

I just got the chance to watched the videos back and I can see why you are all so saddened but trust me when I tell you, it was fantastic being there in person. Listening to it on YouTube is like listening through an IEM. Trust me, if that's what people heard, they would have booed and walked out.

Here's my assumption. Jon wasn't expecting to play that long or expecting to play TDs and/or Blood On Blood. He played an extra half hour from the night before and even went past 11:00PM. I also don't think he knew Richie was going to show up (It could have been discussed but I don't think it was a guarantee)... I think once he got word of it, he wanted to show off a little. Jon really engaged the crowd and pulled out those two songs last minute. He probably wanted to show off Phil (and the other guys too). Don't forget, Richie made a comment a while back about it "not being the real thing" without him... Jon wanted Richie to see it and I don't blame Jon for that.

If I'm right, which I usually am, It wasn't about his voice at that point. It was about Jon still doing it without Richie. People are here, People are engaged, this back kicks ass, I'm still a great front man, and it's not just the new stuff...

I have to agree with you here - it's exactly what I was thinking but didn't really want to post.

By that rationale every band that has videos posted on YouTube recorded from a mobile phone should sound like shit. They don't....

I'm sure that you had a great time, but being caught up in the moment at a live show, the buzz of the crowd, etc, can give off a very different vibe and experience to watching it on YouTube. You miss things when you are there in the flesh, that you will notice on a video...

It's good though that some people don't notice the vocal problems, etc at all.
Better than to play in an empty arena.
I would go to a Bon Jovi show these days for the songs, etc and to see them.

Sure, being in the moment is part of it... I'm sure me singing through it with the 8 beers I drank helped him out a lot too... I'm not saying that his YouTube voice isn't his real voice became I know it is... All I'm saying is, it didn't come across that way last night and I'm actually a little shocked to hear that today... I'm not talking as a fanboy, I'm talking as a realist...

Another thing that is false is, Jon is glued to the mic...not true...maybe a few certain songs but I can tell you he was bouncing all around...

Again, things are much different when you are there live... Most people aren't watching the entire concert from start to finish in that type of detail... They are watching for the Setlists and Rarities...Sure, Jon was glued during Blood on Blood but he was also bouncing around during the six songs prior to the encore so I'm okay with Jon standing still on that one...

Fans aren't watching Knock Out and Bad Name...however those are two songs that he moves on...
