Haha that's so true. I'm just happy I'm gonna be in the seat next to you because at 5'4" a tall bastard like yourself (love ya), I wouldn't be able to see a thing.

LOL Thank you so much -- you've just helped me justify my ticket purchases. I HAD to buy the tickets I did. I belong with the other crazies . . . not out there with the <sigh> "casual fans"! I'm glad you survived your foray into their midst. You clearly don't belong there either.

When I was at MSG these rude a*s*h*les in front tried to get 2 women to sit down during Dry County. I mean they kept on and on. After the 1st 30 seconds (for the record I was standing & even held my phone up so that one of my friends in London could hear it) of it I had some fun w/ them and "politely" told them to "Leave them the F*CK alone & If they didn't like them standing up they should get the f*ck out"

My point got across pretty quickly & they never bothered them again. Sometimes ppl just need to be put in their place.

The thing is, you paid for that seat for that night, it's up to you whether you sit or stand no one else and people really need to get over themselves Who gives a shit whether they cant see, thats what the screens are for!

Luckily in the U.K the majority of arena gigs have a standing floor but you wouldnt believe the amount of arguements ive had with people who will say stuff like "if you wanted to stand why didnt you get floor tickets" i dont think people realise how quickly those tickets go, its shit to be a diehard in an uptight seated block!

i keep mentioning my stewarding job, but ive always getting people complaining to me about someone blocking there view and i have to explain there's nothing i can do etc but i hate interupting someone during a gig anyway! who wants a steward coming upto you during a gig, telling you how to act at a gig you've paid £40+ for!

i swear the only good thing about that job are the bands ive seen through it and the £45 a shift

I can be your hero baby...

Seriously though, I've often taken the piss out of people asking me to move. Pretended to be Polish, pretended to speak Chinese only, scream at them "AND WHAT IF I DON'T HUH?" and get real close to them. And if they really want a discussion I just have a go at them because no one, and I mean no one has ever won from me at a gig. Ha!

I actually do move if someone really can't see a thing, but only if I don't lose good view myself. If I remember right we're all the way in the back of the field so I don't think it should be a problem. Someone once asked me to change my place, so I changed my place with my brother who's even taller than me.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

The only time I've sat down at a concert when I wanted to be standing was at a No Doubt show last year, when the girl behind me had a broken leg, and the venue was constructed as such that she couldn't see around me.

Had this at a Linkin Park show, and it was just really weird. Me and my wife the only ones singing along. Which was odd as this was the back of the MK bowl. But we just kept being given glances and it was like...WTF? Do these ppl even know what a rock show is?

I agree with you about the video screen aspect, as everything I've seen reminds me of the screens from the MSG shows on the LH Tour, which was some of the coolest stage design I've ever seen, with the highlight being the WGIGO step routine. Do the screens still do that venetian blinds bit?
Ok, I went back and reviewed WGIGO from MSG.

The video used here is what they are using now. However, the screens are handled differently. They aren't merely ramped behind Tico, they elevate in staggered stairwell fashion so that Jon can walk up to the top one which is a a number of feet higher than Tico. It's almost like watching glass cubes rearrange themselves everywhich way in some virtual reality world.

Great review David, I'm glad you liked the show. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it the you did. You are a lucky person!!!

What really pisses me of are the screens. If the reason for not changing the set is because they jave prepared videos and programmed moving screens really sucks!! Who needs this? I go to the show to enjoy the music and not some ****ing moving screens. I beleive it looks great, no doubt about this. But it seems to me that they can't offer a proper rock show now so they need to have things like those on stage.
Do you think the stage is programmed for the whole show or just for the songs? If it is for the show (that's sounds stupid to me - it would mean that Jon has a given time period between the songs for speakinh etc) then it sucks even more. If the programming is just for the songs, I can't they can't change the order or leave something out and play a different songs with static screens showing the band playing. I'm really sad, this band is definitely leaving the grounds of rock'n'roll, for me. ****ing programming... give me another Hawaii shows than an unchanging setlist. I'm also afraid that the changes done the second night were because of it being the seconf night at one place and that the set of the first night is what they will play every show. I'm really disappointed.
And the flow - I don't how it is at the show itself but listening to the bootleg - the flow is terrible. The LH shows made the crows moving because there were songs like Just Older, Captain Crash, Raise Your Hands, Runaway. And now? WLOL, LH, ST, WWWB - I was really bored while listening to the glendale show. Also the ballad and acoustic set - why is it all on a row??

And about being asked to sit down - here you go, the great idea of having seats at a rock'n'roll show. That's why I hate them.
