there is a very big market for very late visitors, meaning people wanting to go to concert last minute and paying a multiple cost price for it. Even for smaller artists/venues.
Meaning for such artist there is absolutely a market for higher priced tickets, it probs not sell out as quick.
Why not take a higher turnover/margin if people willing to pay for it? If sold out later then black market will get less as people can buy tickets longer through original ways. Though there will always be the hunt for best seats

As a individual nowadays its hard to buy a lot of tickets because there is almost always a max tickets per person. But if I can buy multiple tickets (+10) for a big artist again such as u2 couple years back and make at least 200% on it then I won't hesitate and buy as many as I can.

Then you're no better than they are!

Some peoples' selfishness is unbelievable and it's sickening to see what the potential to earn a quick buck by completely immoral methods does to otherwise decent people.

I only ever buy tickets for my own use. It's called common courtesy towards your fellow fans who would also like to go to the concert and also like to pay face value for their tickets as you did. Anyone who sells tickets in a bid to make an easy profit is scum, whether you sell one or one hundred!

I can't get my head around the TM auctions...it just seems so completely wrong...and I can't get my head around the price Backstage is asking either....and ebay should have sort of ruling about ticket sales...I think they've refused to sell the Princess of Diana concert ones...

Problem is, if we all boycott the touts, then the concert venue would only be half full. That would'nt reflect too well on the band.

& the O2 hasn't actually sold out, as a huge proportion of the tickets are still for sale (on Ebay)

Another way to combat it...if only slighly..would be every time we bought tickets to a bon jovi show..by 4 and sell the other 2 at face value price!

Its the money bug though...if you see others make a £100 + profit on each ticket, we might end up thinking..well I will then!

Its such a tough discussion. The real only way i can see it being reduced is for ebay to ban it completely.Simple as that.

ticketmaster etc do say tickets cannot be sold on but thats it. So aslong as ebay still allow it, it will continue.Sad

I might make up some t-shirts for the o2 gig saying 'Dont you just hate the ticket touts!'

But, since the tickets are "out" of the system they would be counted as sold. Even if the scalpers get stuck with them, they will (or have already) pay the face value of the ticket to 02.

Yeah, the tickets have been sold on but not sold in terms of the show being sold out.

Think of wholesaling. Panasonic may have sold a TV to Curry's. The TV however hasn't yet been sold on to the customer.

Not true, the touts would be forced to sell at a lower price to recoup the money they have paid out for them. Its basic economics.

Do you think the touts go home at the end of a gig with a pocket full of tickets? Of course they dont, they sell them off at whatever price they can get once the gig has started.

If it was on a Saturday at home, I'd have access to 3 phones & the internet. As it was, I had to ask my mum to try & get them. She had no chance!

2) Which leads me on to the fact that if they go on sale during the week there is far more chance for Touts to get them! & this is what really pisses me off!! No sooner have they gone on sale than there are loads of the things on Ebay! Are ticket offices really playing the game fairly?? Or do they release a load to touts who drop them a few quid?

& what do touts actually bring to society?? They complicate the ticket buying process by buying a load of them & for a lot of fans they have to go through extra hassle to get them. Like a middle man when there really is no need.

After which the lazy b****ds sell them on ebay for a tidy profit. Do these people pay Tax or VAT? Do they f***.

& what is being done about it?? sod all! Ticket offices make a few quid from it & ensure that their allocation is all sold, so they don't care. Ebay gets a load of trade so they don't care. But the fans get screwed every time!

Surely touting is illegal & if not, it should be! Ebay should have a rule whereby a user can only sell tickets once over a period of time (to give ppl with genuine reasons a chance). None of these block sellers. They clearly shouldn't be allowed.

So what is a fan meant to do to get a ticket? Either they are lucky on the day or they can pay £300 extra for a sodding boat cruise?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
you took the word outa my mouth. i was in the sam situation! im was unable to get my tiks dew to the so called touts! i hate them! now i have paid £250 for a £100 of ebay what a rip off but im one of those nutty fans that will pay that much to see them live. thats nearly a few days work for me! but i surpose its worth it to see the boys live!

My busiest time at work is between 8.15 and 10.30 so I had no chance Wednesday or Friday. I only got gold circle tickets for the HAND tour cause I booked the day off.
