Which is exactly why there's such a lot of bitching about the setlists. With Bon Jovi it used to be that even the rare tracks were becoming staples. It changed a bit during the Lost Highway Tour, but yet you can still bet your ass that Wild Is The Wind will appear about 5 times next tour.

Nope - though when I saw it at Twickenham I did wonder if it was him

I have the picture of it somewhere but not on my PC right now. We each held banners having just one word on it forming the exact same line. I Believe was played and Sat. Night was dropped. I Believe wasn't an audible either, but Jon just liked our banners, I guess. He never pointed at them, but when they came on stage he pointed at Richie and Richie acknowledged seeing it.

When me and Thierry saw those guys at Twickenham we were wondering what gave them the idea. We asked them but they didn't know. Someone from Spain suggested that line as a request. They had written down the setlists for both nights before the first night though, so any request at Twickenham was rather pointless.

Was it not you and Thierry that ran into Tico before the shows and he told you guys that they had several surprises on the setlists like Something To Believe In?

My personal definition of a rare track is dependent on two main factors:

1) Which tour it is
2) How many times said song has been played on that specific tour

In this way, OWN for example would not have been rare on the OWN Tour but would be rare on the LH Tour.

I think that if the song is not on the album being promoted by the tour and/or has been played less than 10 times on the tour in question, it is a 'rarity'.

Of course, to get a song like 'Stick to your Guns' would be an insane rarity - uber-rare in fact! I therefore think it isn't a case of 'black and white'. There are differing degrees of 'rarity' but my 'standard' definition of it is the one detailed above.

And that was exactly what it said on Seb's banner in Amsterdam - I know, I was there and saw it.

In my opinion a song isn't rare because it is a new version or the only time played on a certain tour.
So by these rules a song like In and Out of Love, or Roulette, or Shot Through The Heart is not very rare. Ok it was played alot in the early 80s but never for like 20 years. So surely that makes them rare now.
I think there should be a clause added to these rules that say if it hasn't been played live for 15 years it is also rare.
Yes we need such strict guidlines for an important topic

I think that too. It's got to be rare if it hasn't been played for 15-20 years!

It's been played 2 times in total. Brussels 1988 (I think) and Amsterdam 2008.

As for the definition of rare, I just see there being varying degrees of rareness, and indeed most of Bon Jovi's catalog would be encompassed by it. Dave's definition is limited to the "extremely rare" that most of us wouldn't even dare to dream of (although as we know, Lie to Me and Stick to Your Guns did, by some miracle, pop up on the last tour).
