Default Review Mannheim!

Well we are back again at home. But the Mannheim show is one of a kind, and the best show I did ever attend sofar. The Gelsenkirchen show was for us an big dissapointment. LIVE was supporting Bon Jovi. They rocked also but only Kieets and I did know all the lyrics to all the LIVE songs. Which was pretty cool, Ed waved at us a couple of times. So he did already know that we are real rockers. And that we rock harder than Mike McRock and letitrock. And we do not even have long hair. We did not listen to Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin on the way to the concert but anyway no offense guys

And after LIVE we did need to wait 15 minutes before Bon Jovi did start. The Bounce intro, starts right after Avril Lavigne's Complicated.

As usual they kicked off with Bounce. It's an good song, but it ain't that powerful live. Right after that song they played You Give Love A Bad Name. That one was pretty good, but the same as usual. After that one, the first highlight, Wild In The Streets. It did start with an drum solo by Tico, which was great. The audience did rock during this song, but they didn't know the lyrics. But ofcourse, we did know all of them.

After that one, Livin' On A Prayer. Which was very predicable, so Kieets and I did start to sing it before Bon Jovi started to play it. Which was great fun, during Prayer I saw Laura and Taija on the videowall . The crowd did liked Prayer a lot. But the German people obviously don't know how to rock. Right after this they played Everyday: It does sound ok, but it's not really a thing to look forward to. Nothing special.

Ok right after that one it was time for Runaway. I don’t like that song that much but, yesterday wow man it did rock. Very cool and an great improvised guitar solo by Mr “God” Sambora. . Okay, after that one they did play Keep the Faith, including great jungle screams, and some alternate lyrics. The best of the best and ofcourse 2 major guitar solo’s. I was so happy that this sounded this way. (ahem, I am not on Backstage though ).Wanted Dead Or Alive after that one, too bad there ain’t an major acoustic guitar solo before it. That would give the song a boost.

In These Arms, that song did sound awesome. Jon did even do the scream. He was in top shape I guess. O my god, I’m starting to sound like an freaking backstage chick. My apologies for that. The solo was great also, but the German crowd.. They suck bigtime. It’s My Life, this one they did know very well... It’s an ok song, but I heard it too much and I do think it’s overplayed. Oh well, I don’t mind it at all.

The Distance, yeah, rocks bigtime. One of my favourite tracks live. It rocks, the guitar solo makes it an really special thing, too bad the German people don’t understand this song either..But it was really an special thing, at least for us. Okay, Bed Of Roses.. I was afraid that it would be played much too slow. But they didn’t, I liked it.

Undivided, now we are talking again. Great song, but it’s a shame that they play this one far too slow. But it still did rock though, the crowd sang the whole outro. Which sounded pretty cool, and you could obviously see the band enjoying it . Yes Misunderstood my favourite song of all time (or am I being cynical now?). This was one of the few songs the German people liked and they went wild..

Joey, that one was brilliant.. It was the first time I did cry at an concert. ( NO I AM NOT AN BACKSTAGER DAMMIT) The keyboard solo in the beginning was really great. And the song also, I did really love the alternate lyrics and the upbeat part during the end. It was really great. Richie on vocals during I’ll Be There For You: It was awesome, a lot more energy than during the Gelsenkirchen concert. The song did last very long, because the crowd kept on singing even Richie was already done, Jon came back on stage and he did sing the chorus for a few times. Really great stuff.

Blaze Of Glory, really not my kind of song. But this night it wasn’t a problem. It did sound well, and we were warm already so we could handle this. It was an nice performance, but this song doesn’t bother me that much. Hook Me Up: this ****ing rocks man, I really don’t understand why they skip this song sometimes. Major rock!!

Born To Be My Baby, nice song played very well. I heard this song every often I can live without this. But I like it when they are playing it. Sleep When I’m Dead, certainly not my favourite song. I am happy they did make it quite short, so my ears dont’t have to torture for a long time. Raise Your Hands, this song did rock very hard and there was great interaction with the crowd. What more can I say about this, o yeah the solo rocks. Goddamn.

Finally: These Days, let’s cry again lol.. Well Kieets and I where screaming for the song the whole evening and we did got it. It was an really great moment and it was an very strong performance.. improvising all the time. Did I mention before that Richie is God? No, i will now: Richie is God! Just Older was pretty ok, much better than the gig in Gelsenkirchen where it was much too slow. After that an master version of Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night.. Loads of improvising by Jon and Mr Sambora, extended lyrics; extended solo what can we wish more? Crash was cool also, and Bad Medicine and Shout were pretty nice too.

I would rate this show with 9,5/10. Just because they didn’t played Blood On Blood.. It was awesome let’s hope Amsterdam will be awesome also.

Thanks for your review. Hey, what's with the Backstage cracks? I'm a Backstager. Not all of us think it's always about Jon's ass. There are many of us at BS that are in it for the music. Glad you had such a great time at the show. It's amazing how the music becomes such an emotional experience. Enjoy the rest of the shows you will be seeing.

Why? Be glad you're not a dead stone. Bon Jovi's music is supposed to touch you. The band would be proud. Jon has teared up himself during certain songs. Rock on!

i don't know what mike thinks, but i certainly don't "rock" as a person... just musically

so when i go to a concert, i don't rock... the band rocks and i watch it

I don't know what you have against german crowds... Although it was a more silent night in Mannheim (as far as the people go), but they did rock a lot man....!
