Default RICHIE on this tour.. NOT INTO IT??

For those who have seen a show on this tour what have your impressions of Richie been? I just saw my first show on Monday night in Albany and it was an amazing show... great setlist.... Jon singled me out and sang Blood on Blood for me ... it was a near perfect night.

But Richie. I noticed immediately that when he came out he was not very into this show AT ALL. HE was not smiling alot, he did not interact with Jon much, he would play, take two steps to the right to do his solos, then go right back to his spot. He didn't move around at all and really wasn't interacting all that much with the crowd.

He didn't yell Look Out during Bad Name at that part he always does. he didn't yell Let's ride during Wanted. He didn't sing backup on BTBMB and even on my favorite song Blood on Blood he usually echos Jon with the "be right by your side" and he didn't do that either.

He was definitely either having an off night or something...

The reason I ask is because I have read more than one review at different shows that have said that Richie has been "off" or not as into it as usual.

I know I read in Boston that there was some tension between Richie and Jon that night due to the setlist... but i am wondering if something else is going on...

And yes I know there is a whole thread on Richie and Heather and their supposed marriage trouble but Richie almost seemed kind of down at my show.. I was wondering OMG could it be true??

Just curious what those of you who have been to other shows have thought of Richie's performances?

Also I thought Richie looked very thin.. what is going on with him? I know it all just specualtion and who knows maybe tonite I will read the Montreal thread and see that Richie was on fire... I hope so...

While I love the band I must say Richie is BY FAR My favorite band member and I was a tad disappointed he wasn't really his usual rocking self...

So what do you guys think? Comments and insights please ( but only if you have seen them on THIS tour) thanks!!!

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

I agree with you about Richie being off. In all fairness, out of the 10 shows I've been too I'd say from what I've seen he's been into about 7 out of the 10 of those. In the "on" nights, he's walking up the stage extensions and going over to the pits a lot and just much more energetic. I've noticed just like you that when he's not into a show he's not singing his backing parts and is backing away from the microphone a lot. And yes, I witnessed him screwing up in Boston and playing the wrong 4th song. It just seems to me his mind is elsewhere when he's having an "off" night. I had heard someone say they spoke with him and he's had a pretty bad cold so maybe it's lingering and that is what's dragging him down. I'm going to DC for the show on Saturday. We'll see how he is there.

this is not the first time I read that ... I am worried too ...because if Richie is not into the show the shows won't turn out excellent or outstanding at the end .. my apologies to the *only Jon counts * believers .. IMO without Richie in it's gonna turn bad and Bobby won't be enough to pretend everything is ok ....

I don't know what is going on but OBVIOUSLY something is not ok .... in 2000 Richie was not in that much neither and when he is not ok he is NOT OK .. I mean it last more than a couple of shows unfortunately

fingers crossed Richie will feel better soon .....I wanna hear him sing I wanna see him have fun on stage I wanna hear his sparkling guitar LOUD ... and to be honest so far this tour doesn't sound focused on that

Maybe he has problems with Heather about their possible divorce.

I didn't notice it the first 2 shows I went to, but certainly noticed it the 3rd. That was the night of the setlist mishap.

Richie didn't yell during Wanted because he's been reading this board and people thought he's having tourette syndrome. So, he stopped doing that.

He is also depressed because Jon scolded him when he messed up in Boston. He's worried he'll lose his job to Bobby.

And yes he's finally tired of doing solos from songs off Crush/Bounce/HAND because they aren't as kickass as the old stuff.

:P

Well from the Montreal show he didn't seem to enjoy the new songs that much except HAND. He didn't give it all vocally or instrumentally, same with the Bounce songs and to some extent the Crush songs, though on those he was a bit livelyer.
He kicked ass on SIBSN and Raise Your Hands, that's about it.

I don't know why he is a bit absent, but maybe it's the act itself. I mean it's more a "Jon and the guys" tour than the previous ones, especially with the extra musicians and the all for Jon parts in the crowd. Jon&Richie didn't interact as much as they usually do either.
