The UK is lucky enough to have Jovi as regulars, playing multiple shows at different venues on each tour. The British public (in general) too are harder to please and given the unusually high cost of tickets compared to the stadium shows, to not have such a HUGE part of the band there may manifest itself a lot more noticeably than in Puerto Rico. I just don't think that the UK crowd will be as 'up for it' as they would if Richie was there. I can say with absolute certainty that, if Richie were not to play, it would completely wreck the concert for me. Other people may think I am placing too much emphasis on the need for his presence but, as far as I am concerned, Bon Jovi the band do NEED his presence otherwise it simply ain't Jovi IMO.
Hit the nail on the head there, totally agree.

Agreed, it might as well be a JBJ Solo gig, without Richies presence. I will be gutted if Richie isn't part of the show, but it won't mean I will sell my ticket. Richie's latest news is just bad timing for the promo shows. I guess we will have to live with it. It made sense what Javier was saying in the PR thread about the fact that he really enjoyed the show over there, but he couldn't help but thinking 'damn, this could be so much better if Richie was here'. I think he hit the nail on the head with that one. I reckon, I will be thinking exactly the same two weeks tonight tbh.

I haven't seen him play for Southside Jonny so I'm not writing him off completely in my following comments but every time I have seen Bobby perform with Bon Jovi he just seems so uncomfortable playing lead - almost as uncomfortable as Jon.

It's like he's lacking confidence in himself to nail a kick ass solo and always seems to 'diddle' his way through them, weakly improvising without actually adding anything to the songs themselves. The solos lack structure and I bet if you asked him to play the same solo again at the next gig, he couldn't.

It must be tough stepping into Richie's role, even if it is only temporary, but if you are gonna be a session musician, you really have to be on top of your game and I think that Bobby struggles here unfortunately.

I don't know if I would say he struggles but he doesn't seem at all comfortable. I realize he hasn't had that long to learn the lead work for the songs but come on. He's been playing the better part of these songs for a while now. There's no reason he couldn't have learned the solo to BTBMB before the PR show. Perhaps he didn't use the talk box out of respect for Richie and wanted to try to do his own thing rather than try to simply copy Richie.

Bobby seems to play the guitar in a tottaly different style to Richie...this is why he is tottaly uncomfortable when playing... and sounds very 'ametur' in my opinion...

Just face it, BJ's downhill just picked up the pace a bit. Not just sucking on record they'll suck even more playing live.

Look here, the clouds in the sky have parted and the bright ray of sunshine that is stonedeaf shines down on us and has raised all of our spirits J/K

By the way - SD is your sig from a Megadeth song. I know I've heard that line before and I'm ashamed to say I can't place it right now. It sounds like something Dave would say.

LOL, oh well. I don't enjoy BJ's recent efforts that much, ok at all to be honest. What comes to them playing live, even if they have been watered down version of a rockband they once used to be, Rich has always been quite reliable putting some rock into them mediocre performances. So if he sobers up, who knows if he's any good on stage without his booze

and hats off to u, sig is from "peace sells"

That's really comforting... BJ isin't going down hill... Unless Richie decides to quit the band or simply step down (which I HIGHLY doubt). I've always seen Richie as a loyal person. Unless things really get BAD (like they did in this rehab situation) Richie has never backed down... I mean common. He's always been one of the best guitarists out there.

I'm sure in about 3 or 4 months (maybe less) everything will get back to normal.

As for what RS8MB0R8 said. I completely agree... but hey. You gotta think about it this way (or at least the people attending that concert). It's not like anyone wanted this... I'm sure Jon, Dave, and Tico aren't happy to be playing a gig with out Richie... but let's say Richie were to have been there... it would only be worse (as for what could happen if he attends the O2 when he knows he shouldn't). Richie should stay in rehab get his life back to order and then start all over again.
