That's because whenever you feel you pointlessly need to defend Richie, you always feel the need to bring up Jon. That's why.

Also, most of your links show quite well how Richie's started losing his touch over the years, it's going downhill as the years go by, as opposed to hitting a certain level and then just staying on it. No one expects him to be peaking anymore, but it'd be nice if he could play a few tunes without making random mistakes.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Just been listening to Thierrys recording of this show. Whilst I applaud Richie's effort at something different with The Distance, I don't know why he started singing so high from the off, it seemed to give him nowhere to go and did him even less favours.

I could imagine an on-form Richie doing a really good acoustic version of this one, maybe that was how it started off life.

Also, I'm a fan of the way the band played Lay Your Hands On Me this tour, it's slower but I think its come across well- helped by the drummer who was a highlight all through the O2 show for me.
