I agree with your reasoning and the valid points about reactions to songs fans don't know/like. But again, Jon and Richie knew all that
before anything was ever said about them doing solo stuff
and before 3 of the songs were added to one of the special editions of WAN, which isn't SOP, either. So I still don't get why crowd reactions would've played
any role in Jon changing his mind. I don't disagree that it might have; I just don't get why it would.

The idea that Jon may have agreed to let Richie promote Aftermath because he was coerced into touring sooner than expected probably came from me since, afaik, no one else has mentioned it. And I'm not saying that's what happened. It's just a thought that occurred to me as I worked through the limited information we were given, looking for something significant enough to cause Richie to walk out in the middle of a tour. Nothing but pure speculation based on a gazillion little things that don't add up for me. They don't need to be rehashed here because most of them have been discussed already; and it would just stir up another J vs R discussion. If you're interested in the connections and why I think it might be significant, PM me; and I'll be happy to explain. Otherwise, just consider it another wild hair; and carry on.
Whether it had anything to do with Jon's ultimatum and the timing of the tour is beside the point, anyway. Point being that there obviously
was an understanding that Richie would be doing songs from Aftermath; and yes, there were interviews from both of them.

Oh, and btw, I just realized that statement from Richie was made
before the cancelled NA shows. That
could indicate that his promotion of Aftermath was indeed cut short because he was called back in sooner than expected; which might also be an answer to your question about why make up shows were never scheduled. There was plenty of time after he left the tour, obviously; but given the negative reactions to Calgary, I doubt he would have seen much point in it. (Threw that in for free.)
