Ahem...

He barely played any fan favourites, his selections from the Bon Jovi catalogue were disappointing, his backing band was dreadful, no impressive guitarwork from him apart from Stranger and I'll Be There For You, stuff he's done a million times before, 4 shows were cancelled due to poor sales, not doing any promo stuff despite being in a country for several days...

Yeah, I think it's fair to say the tour was a disappointment.

The whole point of a tour is to showcase what you're capable of as a live act, and I can't say I ever saw Richie really showing what he was capable of due to pretty much making every wrong decision on every level. Yes, I had a good time at the second show in Amsterdam solely because I'd learned and accepted not to expect anything anymore after seeing the first show. I honestly don't understand why anyone would think anything related to Aftermath Of The Lowdown era was a succes though.

This may seem contradictory to my previous post, but I partially agree with what you're saying (poor selections from the Jovi catalogue and a poor backing band), I was merely highlighting that the person I was responding to had said "a disappointing tour" and "great shows" all in the same sentence which I found to be quite the oxymoron.

Ah, alright then. I agree with you on that, but then again, I didn't really think the shows were that great to begin with. It was only after people had learned to deal with the idea that they weren't getting what they wanted that they felt the shows were great. If you've got to lower your expectations in order to deem something great, then yes, eventually everything will be superb.

I think you have a better chance to be heard by writing that on Bon Jovi's facebook posts. People close to the organization and close to Jon read that and he'll deffinetly get some of the feedback. apart from that, Jon has expressed his intentions in playing 'Running' on the tour while he mentioned Richie playing some solo stuff. What solo stuff, is really up to Richie....

It doesn't really matter what Richie plays because as soon as Jon exits the stage 70% of the audience zone out. So he might as well play something he enjoys and that way the people not pissing / going for a beer / texting will enjoy it too.

Homebound Train worked well last time out. Please no more LYHOM, that was pretty awful.

Didn't Bon Jovi do an online setlist poll last tour and completely ignore a lot of the songs that were voted?

I think most of the fans voted for regulars like Prayer and IML so it made no difference.

Stupid fans...

Unfortunately it's a piss break for many, but I think when he does a well known Bon Jovi song (IBTFY, LYHOM) less people probably leave.

I'll believe it when I see it, but:

Quote:
Bon Jovi is impressed with his bandmates' work away from Bon Jovi: David Bryan's musical "Memphis" won four Tony Awards; Tico Torres has been showing his paintings in galleries; and Richie Sambora is touring behind his solo album. They'll reunite early next year to learn about 75 songs for the tour, including the "Stand Up Guys" songs.

"Theres always going to be some time where I'm going to want to strum an acoustic just like Richie will do something from his solo album," he says. "We'll definitely play them."

By the way, did anyone else catch Richie's tweet yesterday about being up early to work in the studio? I hope he was re-recording the solo in BWC. Why else would he be in the studio right now?
