If the "somewhat paraphrased but not really quote from Richie" is something gleaned from Nikos' post, chances are it's inaccurate anyway. Sorry, Nikos, but I listened to the Trunk interview and Richie said nothing about being the "main writer" of the BJ songs he does solo or with Ori. (Although I personally think he probably was and that's why he does those particular songs).

He said they're included "because they were ...my ideas, or something like that..." If anything, it sounded to me like he was stumbling around, trying to avoid saying that he wrote them, much like Jon is going out of his way, now, to say that he didn't write LOAP alone. Seems like they both may have picked up on the fact that some fans tend to get a little touchy when at least one of them says he wrote some of their hits.

Richie also didn't say anything about "how bon jovi should continue with [Bob Rock]..." He talked a little about working with Rock on the RSO album; and when Trunk said he loved KTF, Richie said, "Bob Rock..." and that's it. I don't think "Bob Rock" and "Bon Jovi" were even mentioned in the same sentence.

Seems to be just another case of hearing what you want (or expect) to hear. That's something else that is quite common around here. In fact, that seems to be the second favorite pasttime - right behind jumping to conclusions based on half-assed information.

(For example, how does one watch one video clip and leap to the conclusion that Richie probably finagled, or pushed, his way onto Springsteen's stage without Bruce inviting him? And then extrapolate that to assume that every time Richie's on stage with another celebrity he probably arranged it just so he could get more exposure? Of course, I suppose there has to be some explanation. I guess it couldn't possibly be that those celebrities actually like and respect Richie, could it?)

One thing Richie did say during the interview was, "I think that the band needed a break, to come up with a whole new thing. Because it was kind of a run-on sentence for a long time, y'know?"

So, while it's true that it's a documented fact that Richie and Shanks "worked TOGETHER", does that necessarily mean that Richie couldn't have started to feel left out or think that his relationship with Jon had changed as a result; or that he couldn't have been unhappy with the direction Jon and Shanks were taking the band? I mean, it would be kind of hard for him to think any of that if they HADN'T worked together, now wouldn't it?

I'm not miffed in the slightest, I haven't been following the Springsteen/Richie debacle. I'm on your side here, a lot of people on both sides of the wall are making theories and running with them because they think they know and then using it as ammo on Jon or Richie or the band. People are so quick to jump to Jon's defense and jump to Richie's defense that they pick up things they think other people are saying. My point was about generalities, I wouldn't have said if it was common if I meant only the Richie stuff.
