I agree but he will never do this during a BJ tour.

I like his version of LYHOM but I prefer HT, it suits him a lot better.

Only the die-hard fans will appreciate it if he does a solo song like Stranger, in some of the O2 shows people were asking me what he was singing either if it was LYHOM or HT!!!

You are not. I talked to a lot of people who love him singing this one. He sang it very good at O2. I loved it. I liked it more than Homebound train.

VanJovi, he sang Stranger during the soundcheck on the last O2 show(by accident I could hear this song, so I had my highlight of the show already prior the show LOL). Don't know why he didn't sing it during the show though.

That could have been cool but I doubt he will do it again. I actually amended my post, maybe I wasn't clear. What I meant is that people didn't recognise HT when he played it, let along a solo song, and many people went for a drink or toilet break. I hate it but I can't do anything about it. For me, it is the highlight of the concert in a way tho.

What kind of gripes me:

People leave for the toilet or drink when 'Whole Lot Of Leavin'/other obscure tracks are played (Twickenham 2008 a mass exodus occured). Yet this will stay in the setlist regardless. However, Richie has to change songs even though his version of a song is brilliant and the die-hards love it. You could argue that it hurts Richie more during his one highlight that nobody appreciates it than it would the band for a new track, but I hope my point comes across somewhat?

I'd rather hear Richie sing a cover than a Bon Jovi song. I've heard him do Stranger a few times, but it was always the point where everyone sat down or there was a mass exodus to the beer stand/bathroom. I'm really glad Jon is doing IBTFY again. That was always one of my favorite songs and it was a disappointment to hear it but to hear Richie do it over and over again. I was lucky and saw Jon sing it once in St. Louis before Richie took it over. Maybe a classic rock song would do well for Richie because it would be something the audience would recognize/get into. Anyone remember when he and some other golfers (including Dave) sang LeRoy Brown on a VH-1 Fairway to Heaven? That was awesome.

That would be my choice of covers for him to do but in a small venue. I also think his many covers of Paul Rodgers/Free/Bad Company were pretty good.

As a huge Moody Blues fan, I could never see Richie covering Nights In White Satin

He sang 'Golden Slumbers'/'Carry That Weight'/'The End' in Nürnberg during his solo tour.

but I agree, this wouldn't fit into a stadium.

One of our local DJ's is a big Bon Jovi fan and she get's to interview Richie before the Chicago shows. She is asking what listeners would like her to ask. So I posed the question about why is he singing LYHOM, what about cover tunes, his own etc.? So maybe she'll ask, I'll update if she does.

LYHOM is my least favorite Richie live song, he kicks ass on HT but I think he should be doing his own stuff. He's got 2 albums full of great songs and he should use that oportunity on stage to showcase his material, if he's afraid of a mass exodus or the casual fans not appreciating the effort then he should grow some ****ing balls and do it anyway!

Free's All Right Now would seem to be a cover to suit Richie, but Id be more in favour of his solo stuff. If people are gonna go for a piss break anyway then reward the ones who do stay for some Sambora action!
