If I remember correctly, he never said that he was writing but that he was listening to some flamenco.

I REALLY loved Richie's solo of These Days in the Tokyo Dome 2008 gig. Such passion he sang with; like he meant every word. it rocked!

I think the Tokyo Dome version on These Days is crap, Richie's voice is very shot. The best version was Newark Night 4, and a couple on the Canadian leg, I think.

Like Ferret said, the Tokyo version of TD was horrible.

Aloha !

All versions of Richie singing These Days are crap. His voice doesn't suit the song.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I don't know if they are all crap but every version I've heard him do has a few rough spots that make me wince, even in my favorite he has done which is Newark Nigh 4. His voice may not suit the song as it is not written for him to sing which is why he should just perform his own material.

It IS his own material. It is as much his song as it is Jon's.

True but you know I didn't mean it like that. I meant his solo material.

I would be excited if Richie went solo. Though I would like for them to stay together, i would rather see Richie go solo then the band taking a long vacation. Odds are they will all just take a break for awhile though. It's not easy playing all of those shows, especially when your not that young anymore.
