there are tons of cameras that record in HD that are not SLR
Also lots of new phones including new IPHONE can record with HD
format

The band have always seemed fine with cameras at their shows. I think it is as long as they are private use type cameras or phones.

Although in Tokyo cameras are definitely not allowed. You are told to put them away.

Most Tokyo shows are filmed by WOW WOW TV so getting video is not a big deal as you can get a copy of Pro Recording

we saw them in Tokyo on the HAND tour and apart from a couple of small clips on you tube could not find any video at all.

Would love to have those shows - since we got on to the onstage pits

I think it was mostly the venue's regulation in the US, not necessarily the country.
