Gimpboy - i'd never talk to you on MSN so i have to do things like that here

if the artists are offended so ****ing what... boo hoo i'm sure their millions, many many millions will comfort them

difference between fact and opinion

and fact: (whether we think they are great or not today) both aerosmith and bon jovi turned their back on their harder sounds (or bluesy for Aerosmith) to make more radio-friendly records

BJ seem to be rediscovering their rock side live
Aerosmith going to record a bluesy album a la their roots

puff boy

well no offense to anyone on here

but Robert Plant is 100% right on both counts
Gotta agree with you Tom. It does take all kinds though. I have always liked (older) Aerosmith and Bon Jovi but I love Zeppelin. On the other hand - I don't much care for Plant's solo work. I like some but not most of it.

i love it when someone whose taste in music is not obscured by a love for one single band speaks reason! Thanks

i don't care for his solo work either, but at least he kept it solo and out of the band. I don't care for JBJ's DA album, but i didn't care because he kept it out of the band

Yes Tom's right.....

Even on Bon Jovi's most rocking albums, there are songs which are popy, or sickly. Listening to Slippery yesterday and had to move on when Without Love came on. That's just not rock. And then when you take the 90's onwards albums they were no longer just one or two songs, but half the album. Even faith which I like a lot only has on about half rock..

Led Zep are the opitomy of rock, they are rock. So for Plant to say Bon Jovi aren't rock he's more than justified.

I was reading the MEN yesterday and there was a piece on Bon Jovi (well Jon really). He said in it he hated all the 70's stuff. So maybe the feeling is slightly mutual. Does Jon REALLY like all the 70's Zeppelin type music? I know Richie David, well the rest of the band do, but Jon never seems that into it, more the slightly latter rock in Springsteen and Southside (two acts named in the article as Jon's hero's)

According to the local paper (Express & Star) Richie gave an invitation to him if he's available

I think it would be great to have Plant at the Wolves show. But I couldn't believe it until something was said 'officially'.

Also, while Jimmy is quite easy-going and will collaborate or make these sort of appearances, Robert is not as well known for it. Indeed he himself occasionally seems quite upset at some of his work in Zeppelin, and has tried to rediscover how music should be...

it took him a long time to agree to playing Zeppelin tunes again, I don't personally think he will make an appearance when about 10% of the crowd will actually know who he is, despite him being one of the 2 or 3 most famous vocalists of all time

and what song would they jam on?

robert wouldn't sing ANY BJ song that's for sure, and BJ aren't exactly a Zeppelin cover band (though i'd love it and be on a permanent high for the rest of the year if this did happen)

but i'm just saying it won't

How about Shake it Baby? (or whatever it's called Zep used to do during Whole Lotta Love)....

Like you said, I don't think Plant would do it. It would make a hell of a lot more sence if he was to do a jam to do it with somebody like Purple (who do sort of cover zep during mores' solo), or even somebody like Steve Vai. It would have a much more rock audiance, i.e the type of bands where 99% of the audiance know exactly who Plant is, and 95% of them consider him to be a God. Plus those sorts of bands play music much closer to Zeppelin, or have played music close to Zep's... I don't think I could think of one Bon Jovi song where there is something that sounds like Zeppelin, as an influence or even just as a similarity in style, I don't think there is any, so maybe a jam wouldn't work as well....

Having said that, if it works like shit a jam with Robert Plant would still rock, and would still make the concert something special.

They could use Plant as a seperator... Anybody who isn't clapping and cheering when Plant comes onto the stage get's instantly shot. That way all the non rockers would be gotten rid of, Bon Jovi woudln't have to hold back and could finish the set with Tokyo Road, Homebound Train, Fear, Let It Rock, and If I Was Your Mother!

I've just seen Robert Plant's tour dates and he is playing in Norway on June 23rd which is the day before Bon Jovi's Wolves show. It's highly unlikey that he will come back to UK straight after and play again.
