Jon’s last chance of redemption is Phil X and sadly, I think he’s letting that ship sail.
Phil IS energy. He’s fun, enthusiastic and can play hard. He sings well. He should be pushing Jon yet I get the feeling he’s on a tighter leash than Richie ever was. (I’m referring to letting rip, not a say in how the band is run)

Maybe he doesn't wanna share. Writing songs is quite an intimate process, you won't write with just anybody. Funny thing is, to me Phil X has always been the axeman "doing the guitar parts" as he himself put it. Not that's a secret anyway. Making him an official member hasn't changed a thing just as Hugh being one.
