that's exactly what I think.
That this decision might have been Richie's.

Stranger would be awesome if his voice was up to it, although unlikely, but possibly one the casuals could bear to sit through lol.
place cleared out 50%?? what O2 shows were you at? Nothing changed. If at all, people took drink/piss breaks during LH/Circle songs.

And why would his voice be any worse than before? It's not like rehab strains your voice.

I don't know....just seems a little dodgy to be honest. Plus, his version of IBTFY was always AMAZING. People enjoying Jon singing it is only preference. I'd take Richie singing it over Jon any time. It's his song anyway.

Where does the idea that IBTFY is Richie's song come from? Just curioius. Jon and Richie cowrote it and Jon was so proud of it he played it for Dorothea and it made her cry after they wrote it. If it was "Richie"'s song, Jon wouldn't have been proud enough of it to play it for his future wife. (Jon interview, CHUM FM, Canada, December 1990).

I have no idea how accurate that is but I have seen comments about it.
I've read just as many comments from people who have been at recent shows that say that there's nothing wrong with Richie's voice.

Well. maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration, but certainly where I was sitting it wasnt far off, most people sat down and started chatting/texting etc. to tell truth was watching Richie, not behind me, but I was sat by an aisle exit and there was a LOT of traffic. Maybe I didn't express it well, but didn't meant to suggest that I thought it was unlikely to get Stranger because Richie's voice wasn't up to it, Iagree with you about rehab not affecting his voice , I just think it unlikely he would sing it full stop.

Also when promoting the New Jersey CD in 1988, Jon said that he wrote it for his girlfriend Dora (of course, now wife).

I think the song can mean a lot for the both of them. It's both their song. Just like Seat Next to You. For Jon, it's for his wife and for Richie it's for his Dad.

Now, bring Homebound Train back.
