He obviously rehearsed. The original studio track is my favorite from the album, but I did reach a point in the last few years while listening to it that I actually was a bit irritated by the in-your-face-drunken-passion driven-bender style of the vocals. You all do know now... not to hype anyone up, that is really is very possible that we may get a full-on electric performance of this song with blazing vocals? Jon does seem to be on a self-discovery path that focuses on the music again and has been going on since Lost Highway. If he feels connected to it again, he may pursue bringing it to life further. Never Say Die and Bang A Drum both had justice done to them, there is likely to be more on the way.
For this format and point in the show, his delivery of the vocals is perfect.... it's natural to want to hear him start belting out when his original vocal delivery is so highly regarded, but it wasn't the time or place.
It may still happen.

You perfectly expressed my feelings about this performance Dave!!! I love the original and I adore this one, just each one in it's own way. But, as we kicked out England today, I probably love everything
