Searching a date from the 1st leg of US KTF tour!

Hey guys,

maybe some here can shed a bit of light into this:
According to many sites Bon Jovi played at Tacoma Dome in Washington on March 19th in 1993. But a friend of mine recently bought an old tour iteneary where the show for March 19th is scheduled to be held at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Can anyone confirm where that show really was played? If it was in Minneapolis, what was the date for the Washington show (there is no concert listed for Washington in that iteneary, but there is a recording where Jon greets the audience with "Good evening Washington!")

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I think I got a bit on with this topic: The band played at Capital Center in Landover, MD on February 27th.
Now for me as a European I don't have perfect geography knowledge about everything in the USA and I always thought that Washington just borders on the state of Maryland, but was annexed from it at some point in the past.
However, the Capital Center was the home of the Washington bullets for decades - could it be that Jon greeted the audience with "Good evening Washington" because of that?

The info that I have says that the Tacoma, Washington show was played on March 19th. I don't see a date for Minneapolis at all around that period of time or a Target Center venue.

The Tacoma, Washington show was played in Washington State, on the north-west coast of the US.

Washington DC is a separate region created by congress as the country capitol on the east coast of the US. From Wikipedia:

So yes, some of the land came from Maryland. And yes - chances are the show you are thinking of is Landover, MD whose team has had many name but is now the Washington Wizards (former Bullets). It's kind of like the New York Giants playing at the Meadowlands here in New Jersey. They are a New York team but their home stadium is in New Jersey - confusing right?

So the closest thing coming to Washington would be the show on February 27th. But, of course, the start of that tour was delayed twice in 1993, so I don't know if any more shows got cancelled/replaced.

One thing that always kept me wondering about this show was that the screen looked so different.

Now I found out that Capital Center was the first arena to have really high-technology video screens and the picture I found of the arena could fit it:

Meanwhile the picture of the Tacoma Dome I found shows that they don't have own screens:

So my conclusion would be: The show many fans always had and knew as Tacoma Dome was in reality held at Capital Center in Washington and there was no Tacoma show.
If I made a logical mistake please tell me!

No - you are entirely logical. Don't we have an Landover show that we can compare screens to? Or am I thinking of a Bruce show there - damn let me check my list and get back to you here.

Yes - there is a Largo, Maryland show 1989-07-11 that we can look at and see if the screens are the same. 1993 is only 4 years later. People use such weird names for this venue, Largo is Landover in Maryland - or Capital Center. It's all the same place. From wikipedia:

The Capital Centre was an indoor arena located in Landover, Maryland,unincorporated Prince George's County, Maryland; a suburb of Washington, D.C. Completed in 1973, the arena sat 18,756 for basketball and 18,130 for hockey.

In 1993, the air carrier USAir purchased the naming rights for the building and the arena became known as USAir Arena. After the airline rebranded itself in 1996, the name changed to US Airways Arena. The arena reverted to its original name of Capital Centre after the airline dropped its naming rights and its primary tenants moved to the MCI Center (now named the Verizon Center) in downtown Washington. Most TV and Radio crews broadcasting from the venue referred to it by its nickname "Cap Centre". The venue's name is also sometimes misspelled as Capital Center, Capitol Center, Capitol Center Arena or Capital Center Arena. The venue was demolished in 2002.

Let me dig out my discs and do some comparing The 89 show is stage shot so the screens may not be visible unless there is a long audience shot.

You might be thinking of both: I read that, especially in the 70's, due to the early technology of very good video screens, there were many shows bootlegged in that arena and I guess Bruce was one of them.
But there is also the 1989 roadie released concert from Largo. I haven't checked yet, but I truly hope they got some crowd shots in there - the problem is that the 1993 recording doesn't really show the audience at all - it seems no stage camera was pointing really into the crowd.

Final news: It seems that tour iteneary had a misprint!
I just contacted the Tacoma Dome info station and they confirmed that Bon Jovi played there on March 19th 1993. So the mystery is solved!

Super - that's nice to know. I did take a look at Landover 89 but there was no way I could prove (or disprove) that it was the same place. And I never found a long audience shot from the Tacoma DVDs. So My idea was a good one but it told me nothing At least we know we are dealing with 2 different shows now.

Yeah, tour iteneraries of the early days often have misprints on them or some shows were rescheduled after they went on print. I've been working on my website and iIt's been a bitch trying to get it all sorted so far. There was no internets in the eighties so it's hard to find all the correct dates for the first 4 world tours.
