True... but what's the alternative? The same people sitting at home on their computers and faxing/e-mailing their credit card info to all the box offices and buying tickets to every show? There's still only a finite amount of tickets for the fan club, right? So even though it's a clearly less than perfect system, isn't the intention to have local fans get access to their fan club tickets good in nature?
You also forget the people that run the TIcketMaster outlets who go into the system before they start selling to the public and save the best tickets for their friends (who sometimees are also brokers - convenient right?!)

I think the best thing to do is not make the show about getting to the front row... no matter where you are, enjoy the show...

That's true and in fact another Plus for GA standing because here in Europe you don't have these brokers who really ripp you off with thousands of dollars for a ticket (at least not here in central Europe, I know this happens in England). When you pay 2 times the original price for a ticket you pay a lot (exeptions are there of course like Jon's club concert in 1997 where at least some people payed 10 times face value for a tic). Brokers can not become rich here. And with seated venues this would change and it would become way harder to get a ticket for original price.

I have been to Bon Jovi shows that were both assigned seating and general admission. I would rather have assigned seating, even though I can't take advantage of fan club seats because they never play in this area. I have to travel hundreds or thousands of miles for shows if I want to go to a show. So you might think I'd like to be able to get there early and have the same shot as the locals. Nah... I'd rather have my place and know where it is. GA invites chaos.
