This is only necessary when you only can enjoy a concert when you are front row. I didn't sleep out (I only did it once two years back because we didn't want to pay a hotel room for another night) and I was in front row in Zurich without any problems. At the other concerts of this tour I was in the back of the Pit and had a phantastic view and interaction with Richie. Sure, there are nuts people who sleep out but there are also some in the USA. Just not on the day of the concert but on the day tix go on sale. It's not that different.
