Do you really think that people are willing to part with that extra disposable income for a crap live band. Maybe for one tour but not 3 going on 4 tours now.

Yes I really believe that, because its with all products in all branches.
Your in the US so its hard to give examples but surely you know products that started of as quality products, became huge, didn't update their products (or didn't do that properly) while competiters did, but still selling well because of the name the products has?? But in the meantime, by years lost a lost a lot of quality because of upgrades that were missed there.... (or put in wrongly)
Its simple commerical/marketing whatever logica. It happens all over, even in music.
Bon Jovi could release a folk-album but as long as maketing is good it will still sell a few million copies, untill people realize, the short-time what I ment...
And then we haven't even discussed over-using/marketing a product wich isn't notibale untill years after, ie long term
Damn, I wish I drunk less beers and was better in English now.
Not exactly the same, but still;
If Michael Jackson would announce a tour today it would sell out in minutes, but I bet you it is a lot worse then in the 80 or 90's. The name Michael Jackson sells, just as Bon Jovi.
