our opinions differ greatly, then.

the only things that made this song good when played in a live setting were the strength of vocals in the second and third bridges and the solo at the end. upto 93, it was powerful and raw. post-93 it's either been played too slowly or the vocals have killed the energy of the song. then again, this is my favourite recorded bon jovi song so i suppose i'm slightly biased against live performances of it in general, as they've never matched power and emotion of the original.

It has started to sound a bit dreadful. However, there were some shows during the One Wild Tour that had a Jon that was just good during some songs, more powerful than during the Crush tour. A bit loosened up. But indeed, he was never great.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

You should try and get a hold of a video from either Philly or Maryland in 1989. One of the most powerful BJ performaces of any song I've ever seen was IBTFY at that show.

i own philly and have seen maryland. both excellent performances and yet both lacking something the recorded version has.

.....probably about 5 takes.

I know what you mean. I've just always liked the way Jon gets the whole crowd into the end of the song, and the way the band kicks in at the end.

To me, no other song lacks the emotion and power of the original version live as much as Blaze Of Glory.

to me that's another vocal issue. for the same reason, i guess santa fe and levon from the two rooms album would've nosedived in a live settings
. the guy was on something magical when he recored those songs.

Apparently he was also set to play "Here Comes The Sun" and ''Every Word Was A Piece of My Heart" but the Q&A's went on longer then expected and got dropped.

I'm surprised to hear what he said about Blood On Blood, yeah there is a very high bit in it but any recent performance of it, that I've seen has been quality, except Borgota 2004 which seems to have been dubbed over. The performance from Shepards Bush in 2003 was the best I've seen of it, and easily better then any I've seen from the mid to late ninties when his voice was much better.

I don't feel like going through this thread again so, what did he say about Blood on blood?

He only plays it when his voice is in good shape because it's got a really high BLOOOOD part in it. He then proceeded to play it, and when he reached that part his voice cracked very slightly and he said, "See what I mean?"

It doesn't have a really high BLOOOOOOD in it. It's Jon who thinks it's got a high BLOOOOOD in it because his voice starts to crack more often.
