I have a feeling it won't make the album either, I am happy with that since we don't have a dikc like Urban on a Jovi cd!
actually i thought this was the confirmation that it is on the new album well, what would be the use in playing a song which is NOT included? it's like 'hey- we have a new album out due late summer, and this is a track which is not included- check it out....' doesn't seem too logical for me...
What if they just wanted to play a song that doesn't fit the album, but is a good live song? It would make sense with the box set project now. Realizing that it would be a waste to leave those songs on a shelf and doing nothing with them. But no, it wont appear on the album. Playing a song that will be on your new album while knowing that your entire fanbase will download it isn't exactly the smartest thing to do.

Ice I think you are absolutely right ... Jon didn't say it will be on the album he said it's a new song which is fun .... nothing in this and honestly i read on backstage before it was down that it was VEYR MUCH open to the outside so be sure that ppl can have bootelg this ... I DON'T THINK they would risk any album song weeks away from their album release

I feel like i was too pessimistic and supsicious about them don't play anything new I admit i was wrong but i don't think this NEW song will be used .. it's a tricky gift if you ask me

Jon said the new song was NOT being a single ...i think they played a new song to PLAY A NEW SONG to please the fans who are waiting for the new album news .. it was a way to make the fans calm down alil bit ...but we have no guaranty they will use that song ...but I can be wrong of course

like i said before: imho it definately is a smart thing to play a song from the album. cause it kind of represents the tune of the album and fans downloading shitty quality bootleggs is the best and cheapest commercial in the world. everybody who downloads the song will buy the album anyway. for sure there are some chronical downloaders which are gonna download the album anyway and you can't make 'em change that. so it actually doesn't affect album sales at all.

1 or 2 songs do not represent the tune of the album, the perfect examples are Bounce and Crush. IML and Everyday do not represent what the albums are like. And people get high expectations because of a shitty quality bootleg (who says the bootleg will be shitty quality anyway?). The expectation were very high after the short snippet from Have A Nice Day. When they continue to give away these sort of treats they're a good thing for fans as long as the album isn't released, but it makes the expectations so high that they can never live up to them.

Remember when the HAND was released? A lot of fans think that it's a heavy rocker, and that the album must be loud, the songs must be great and all that sort of stuff. There's no way they can live up to those expectations. Especialy not when you're doing this more than 4 months before the actual album is released. People either forget about it, or get their hopes up for something that will not be, and will be left disappointed.

Sebastiaan

According to people who were actually there, Jon did say it will be on the album. It makes sense. Times are changing, and one bootlegged song isn't going to make much of a difference. It may actually work in their favor and garner interest in the new album. You can't beat free publicity. Plus, the album version may contain Keith, which will make it different from what they played. I suppose they just wanted to give the BJ fans that were there a little treat for making it out there, along with a preview of things to come. It may or may not represent the tone of the album, but something is better than nothing IMO.

I can't imagine the band playing hard rock again... for this album I hope a rock'n'roll recording with some pop/rock songs... but i expect one good album, better than Crush/Bounce...

Bon Jovi never played hard rock. And Slippery When Wet is the biggest pop record they ever made.

Exactly. I always wonder what people are talking about when they say they want Bon Jovi to get back to their hard-rocking roots. They don't have hard rocking roots. They've always played mainstream rock and roll that appealed to the masses.
