Depends on the ticket price. Sonata Arctica played for about 90 minutes but the tickets only cost 12€, I didn´t think it was a rip-off.
Exactly! Chris what do you mean, its a rip off if you pay say €15 to go and see an 'average popular' artist. For a band for example who have only had one album release, who tour, how can you expect them to play OVER 2 hour sets? This is just rediculous. This is why you pay the reduced entry fee. The band is less known and the sets are shorter. What is so hard to understand? Sorry, but you really talk some nonesence sometimes.
Reduced entry fee? Not here in Germany. No matter if you go to Bruce Springsteen with more than 3 hours or Anastacia with 1 1/2 hours, the price is always the same. Here you don't have recuded fees for newcomers or band that play a short gig. You won't find any band exept of cover bands that play for 12 or 15 Euros.

And people like Madonna or Cher who are in the business for decades take even a lot more money as for example Bruce or BJ (round about twice as much) and only play a little more than 1 hour. And they for sure had enough material for long sets.

I don't think the lenght of the show is that important honestly but I the best shows I have been to were all anormally long...

I think Jon need more time than before to get INTO the show .... so if you have a shieter show you have a shorter time of BEST Jon .. he is more comfortable after 30 minutes so if you want to make it 30 minutes shorter please remove the 30 first minutes

I 'd rather have a short show with a great setlist and a kick a$$ audience better than a normal show with an average setlist and average audience who care for the beers or the Jon's open shirts mainly

If I can choose I want long show with great setlist with a great audience and a band happy like never to be on stage ....

Interesting question...

Last time I was on a Jovi show they played for about 2 hours I think. It was a great show! they best I've been on... hey, they even played homebound train!!

No, don't make the shows shorter. Okay longer shows will of course mean that they play more crap, but still.. Have I paid that amount of money I would like at least 2 hours of live music.

easy solution for jons voice. 2 1/2 hour show with dave and richie singing a bit! while jon can relax

I completely agree with the first part.

Quality over quantity. But then, I have an extremely short attention span and usually cannot sit through a whole concert in one sitting anyway - no matter who is playing.

I don't think the last BJ show I went to was more than 1 1/2 hours (though I don't time any concert).

Anyway, I'll gladly do shorter for a better setlist.

I'd like to say that the best concert I've been to were the first 30 minutes of the last Kid Rock concert --- but then, that probably would be a lie.

I'd go to a shorter concert that rocked more. Ideal shows are the 3 hour shows that rock (Helsinki 96) but those are very unlikely. I'd rather see 2 hours of Jon giving it his all than 2.5 hours of a semi-try. For example after Turku and Helsinki 2000 I was completely drained afterwards, and it was only some 2 hours, which goes to show that the length doesn't really matter all that much.

I haven't been to see any other stadium rock act, so I don't know how long most stadium artists play.
