single show cities/setlists vs. multi-show cities

With the very limited data so far it looks like they play more of a "greatest hits with circle songs" setlist in cities with single shows and more adventurous setlists in cities with multiple shows.
That certainly makes sense from teh standpoint of satisfying the fanbase. If a promoter thinks a town can support multiple shows, then there are probably more die hard (buy tickets to extra shows) fans in that city and they will appreciate rarities more.
It might be as simple as that.
In general I am OK with the setlists, but am hoping for a setlist more like the first four than last nights show at Detroit. I am betting on a more vanilla set as it is a single show.
Detroit had multiple shows in the past, but is hit alot harder by the recession than soe other cities on the tour so far.

You might be right Dave, but it's time for them to mix up some more. It's way too static and predictable since 2000. They are getting lazy (and old)!

I'll say this much - I have tickets to 2 of the shows in Jersey. If I don't see some more variety than what they've had the last 2 nights, both of my tickets will be up on ebay. I'm not driving 4 hours to see the same damn lazy show.

It might pay to remember that the band isn't playing to those of us sitting at home watching setlists every night.
The set in SanJose was a bit vanilla but it certainly wasn't a bad show to see. They have four more shows in California in the next ten days 3 of them in basically the same town. I think the old songs will make a reappearance there and maybe one or two we haven't heard yet. San Jose is the smallest market in this Cali grouping, and it got a one night city type of show.

Here's my thing - Toronto gets one show this tour, compared with 5 on the LH tour and 4 on the HAND tour. If Toronto gets a "vanilla" show, I'm going to be a bit upset and I doubt I'd be the only one.

I have stopped trying to figure out JBJ's thought process on what cities get certain set lists. He dusted off "Always" for the first time in 5 years in Des Moines, Iowa of all places. A one-show city, by the way.

I also think it depends on the market they are playing in. Toronto will probably get a kick butt show, it's a place where BJ has a high fan content. Detroit will probably also get a kick butt show, the Palace has been very very good to BJ.
I think places like Omaha, Fargo, Charlotte may get more vanilla hits heavy shows, because the crowds are less familiar with other stuff, and at the end of the day, Jon's point is to entertain the crowd in front of him, not the online audience watching the setlists.

On the other hand, Greensboro -- just up the road from Charlotte -- got both Garageland and Miss Fourth of July (and a 27-song set) on the LH tour. So who knows . . .

Well whatever happens I'm sure the shows will be great!
