Default Smoking at the UK Gigs

Is anyone else annoyed that all the UK Venues are no smoking?

Yes I know its the law, but then so is the 30mph speed limit that we all go above from time to time. Some laws are ok to be broken.

Went to Southampton and was told that you could go outside for a fag but then you wouldn't be let back in!!

I did have a fag once Bon Jovi came on stage hiding under the crowd. But From gates opening to BJ hit the stage was quite a while to go without a fix.

I know that all the non/ex smokers will not care about this.

But its a bit of a piss take when the Stage crew and Tico are smoking on stage.

Rant Over

Hey, as a smoker, I agree...lol.

Never usually smoke when the main band's on 'cause I'm too busy bouncing around.

But it's the 4 hours before that which drive me nuts.

I don't mind about the whole not smoking in restaraunts, pubs, clubs etc. because you can easily go outside. But in a stadium, you can't.

I agree with the law, as a non-smoker myself, but at the same time I do agree with you that it's complete double-standards when the stage crew and Tico light up. One rule for all.

I'm probably gonna end up sneaking a crafty one or two during the evening. I dare say I won't be the only one.

Anybody smokes next to me and I'll be ripping it out of their fingers and putting it out. You may choose to smoke, but the hundreds of people in close proximity to you don't.

I was having a conversation with my nan about this no smoking at concerts. She laughed like theres no tommorow. She then asked if It's permitted to smoke pot at rock concerts these days. I said well not really you'd get funny looks. Then she proceded to tell me stories about seeing the stones in the 60's and 70's. Apparantly you could get stoned of your face and run around the stadium stark naked without anyone batting an eyelid.

What happened to us all!!!

There should not be smoking at a concert. It's not on...too many people. I don't think it's something to be mad about. You really think it's fair, to blow smoke in 498534 people's faces, that may not want to be intoxicated?! :P

I smoke sometimes, but I'm not addicted. I understand when you really want one, it's frustrating. And obviously must be a wholllee lot harder, when addicted. But nah, it shouldn't be allowed at a concert. Jade has spoken.

I think you will find the concert promoters don't make the decisions. Most UK Stadiums now have a No Smoking policy.

i saw roger waters doing dark side of the moon before the smoking ban in england and there were plenty of folk rolling joints in the place.

but i digress just a word of warning to anyone who decides to have a fly puff. the fines the promoter and venue can be liable for breaches of the law are fairly large and alot of the time security will be told just to kick you the **** out.

i've seen it happen at least once in just about every gig i've been to since the ban started. they really don't mess about with that stuff now.
