i'd go anywhere to see richie live! i'd probably go to one Jon show as well, but i enjoy richies solo records more than jons.

i watched richie solo in amsterdam 1998 on video today and the man is awesome!! of course i didnt have an opportunity to see jon yet, so i'll see.

but yeah - richie any time, any place, anywhere for me

I went to see jon and richie both. But I liked the band much more. When you see Jon play it's nice but something is missing. I enjoyed it but prefer the band.

Richie was amazing live. Really cool to see....

But still like the band more!

I've seen Jon Bon Jovi and the Big Dogs twice in 1998, Richie Sambora with Friends 5 times same year...to me Richie topps the list of fave solo shows! I enjoyed his shows much more than JBJ's solo shows.

No it wasn't cos JBJ solos where crap..they really were cool shows, however when The Big Dogs hit the Jovi tunes, something essential was lacking there...JBJ was his usual self...Hugh was just as good..however the rest of the band couldn't follow up to Bon Jovi's standard playing those songs live! They were perfecly fine for Jon's DA songs but not the Jovi stuff... See to me JBJ did the Jovi tunes EXCACTLY as he does with Jovi, the playfulness etc...trying to get the band to follow him. However The Big Dogs concentrated on PLAYING rather than performing here...Jovi the band does both...nothing beats that magic!

When Richie did the Jovi songs on his solo tour he "rearranged" the songs to fit in with the band he had backing him..to fit in with their performing and playing style. The result ended up in a perfect mix (to me anyways!) in performance and playfulness. Richie's tour was more of a BAND being on tour, not a rockstar doing a solo tour with a backing band, wich sadly (and no I am not dissing JBJ in any way here!) was more the case with Jon' solo tour with The Big Dogs.

Richie fully showed to me that he definetly hold a crowd on his own. I'd do my best to see all his shows (or as many as I could) on the next tour. I'd go and see JBJ too but not follow him around as much as Richie. That's simply cos er..Richie is my fave LOL!

But who knows..maybe JBJ would find a band to back him this time who can MATCH his playfullness onstage...cos JBJ is the born frontman for sure. Regardless if the band can't follow up..he has the crowd in the palm of his hands still. I just couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing during those shows....what was missing was JOVI. 3 guys of Jovi was missing there...

I agree entirely. I'd go anywhere to see Richie. Jon only if he came somewhere nearby.

I would only see Jon. I love Jon's solo stuff, especially Destination Anywhere.

I hate Richie's solo stuff. I just can't get into it. Something about his voice gets on my nerves, and I can't listen for too long.

I saw Jon solo once in Bremen, and I have to say, that I was a bit bored.
Later same year I saw Richie in Hamburg, and he really entertained from beginning to end, and his backing band was sooo funny!

I haven't gotten the chance to see either of them solo yet. However, I would go to see either one of them if they did solo tours again.

I have seen both JBJ and RS live - JBJ played at the Sydney Entertainment Centre as part of his Destination Anywhere Tour. It had the look and feel of a BJ show because it was in a big arena, however as I wasn't much of a fan of DA I thought the show was only average. On the other hand RS played at the Coogee Bay Hotel (one of Sydney's larger club venues) as part of the US Tour and it was a lot more intimate. It was smoky and sweaty, everything a club gig should be and RS was in fine form. The crowd mix was somewhat different at RS's show also, a lot more muso's in the room standing in awe of the great man and I was lucky enough to be around 10 metres from the stage. I may sound biased because I'm a Richie fan but for me his show was the better of the two.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to see either Richie or Jon do a solo gig. If the chance would come (hoping it does), I'd go to Richie's solo shows, (rip, shite or bust ) since I'm a fan of his solo music (and him as well :P ). There isn't any doubt I'd go through the same events to get to one of his shows (travel, camp out for tickets, etc.) as I did for Bon Jovi shows. Now, if it were a Jon solo show, I'd go with a friend as a courtesy(and curiosity), but wouldn't give the effort as I would to see Richie.
