Greetings to all the Dry Country Jovi Talkers!
Our local (as in South African) concert promoter is
promising an "announcement" tomorrow morning and speculation is rife that it will be a possible confirmation of BJ related dates.
There are already a number of comments suggesting that “a little bird told me it’s them” all over the place. It seems that the delay in the announcement (if it is the one we’ve been expecting) was due to delays in sponsor agreements being finalised.
I recently posted
an article on The BlaBla Blog looking at the various hints that pointed to a visit to these fair shores by the band and subsequent to that got further info that suggested dates would be Johannesburg on Thursday, 21 April and Cape Town on Saturday, 23 April (or the other way around possibly).
A couple of questions for those with more insight into BJ's touring habits than I (it has after all been 15 looong years since they were last here!)
- Would the band perform over the Easter weekend? Those dates are the Thursday before Good Friday and the Saturday before Easter Sunday.
- Am I safe in assuming that the appearance at the New Orleans Jazz Fest will not involve a full BJ touring stage needing setup? i.e. Will the band 'travel light' from the Southern side of the planet to NO for the festival without need for major tour breaks?
- I have no doubt that tickets would sell-out quickly here, even with only 6-7 weeks notice, but if the April dates are bad, would the band tour here after the European dates in July? Bearing in mind that June - August is winter down here, and Cape Town has notoriously shocking winter weather and Joburg can be exceptionally cold at that time.
- Has anyone with Backstage JBJ access seen or heard anything at all in this regard at all since the anti-climax (at least for us here!) of the 01 February announcements?
